Hi,
this may be a silly question, considering I have 2 kids already. A 2 year old and an 11 week old. Anyway, here goes. I gave birth to my 2nd daughter sept. 2, 2009. I got my period for the first time after birth on nov. 2 Though I thought i got it the week before bc i was spotting brown for a few days but than it stopped and my husband and i had sex inbetween me spotting and than me getting my period. We didn't use protection, we used the pull out method(we always used the pullout method and i never got pregant until we actually started trying to get pregnant and both time i got pregnant in the first month of trying). We had sex 3 other times since my period ending. Now, 2 days ago, i started getting a bit crampy and i spotted brown a few times. It only lasted that one day but since than, i have been crampy and bloated(which is how I felt when I concieved with both babies_. So now i am starting to worry that i could be pregnant again bc we didn't exactly use protection but he didn't "finish" in me. Do you think I could be pregnant? Is it true that you are more fertile in the few months after birth? Could the spotting been implantation bleeding?? I hope I am just freaking myself out and making myself feel pregnant. BTW, I am supposed to get my period on nov. 30 but my periods have never been normal, they were usually around 40 days or more apart. Is it common to have such irratic periods after birth, I forget?? Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful! Thanks!

No question is silly to ask no matter how many you have gotten pregnant. Yes, you can get pregnant soon after birth. They do say that you are more fertile after birth. Some people have children that are 9 months apart. I didn't realize that and my two older boys are 1 year and 3 weeks apart. The pull out method always make me wonder...how successful can you be.
Anyways, you can wait and then test yourself to see if you are and if you still question you can call your OB. My period has never been regular or normal before and after births. I noticed after each birth, the number of days having my period were shorter which was great, but everyone is different. Just let me tell you this, A.....If you are pregnant, CONGRATUALTION!!!!!!!!! If you're not, well it wasn't meant to be. You got me curious now....let me know if you are or aren't please. Thanks.

A., you are probably freaking yourself out; however, it is true I believe (based on my experience) that women ARE super fertile right after having a baby...I got preggers the first month after I got my period-my baby was 6 months old. And I have heard countless other stories like that...but my period is fairly regular. I guess I am not helping you. Good luck either way...

Yes, you could be pregnant. Chances are it's just your body adjusting. To be sure take a home pregnancy test.

It only takes one little dribble to get pregnant, so you really should use some form of real BC even if it's just a condom. Just go to your local pharmacist and get a home pregnancy test...Even the cheap store brand ones work really well....That way you'll know for sure.

I dont think you are pregnant because its completely normal for your periods to be out of wack for awhile until they regulate. Do you breast feed? If so thats another way you can be protected. You are defanetly more fertile right after you have a baby. I had my son febuarary the eleventh and had my first period three months later. I also used the pull out method and never got pregnant again. Although I did scare myself too at some point bec it had been so long until I had my first period. I bleed for two weeks after I gave birth and brown spotted for about a week after that. I stopped and got my first period and my periods finally regulated. So brown spotting is completly normal. If you are breast feeding that could cause cramping in your abdomen. It doesnt sound like your preggo because it would be too soon for any symptoms at all. I would deffanetly try and wait a couple weeks and take a pregnancy test to rule the thought out completely. I wish you the best of luck...

All I can say is my beautiful 20 year old daughter is a result of the pull out method LOL!!! You are playing with fire here. Yes, you could be pregnant. If you do not want to get pregnant then I would suggest you get on some form of birth control or have your husband use protection.

Could you be pregnant? Sure, you could be. You had sex with no birth control. The pull out method is not birth control even though it may have seemed like it worked in the past. I know this from experience. Not once, but twice! My first 2 children are only 11 months apart. My 3rd and 4th are 13 months apart. BTW Breast feeding is not always a fool proof method of birth control either. I was breast feeding my first baby when I got pregnant with the second.

On the other hand, maybe you aren't. You could be talking yourself into thinking you are pregnant because your periods have not had time to get back on schedule yet. I know this from experience too. My 2nd and 3rd children are 10 years apart.

The only way you will know for sure is to take a pregnancy test or go to the doctor. In the mean time, don't fret over it. You will drive yourself nuts. I do suggest that if you do not want any more babies right away, you either refrain from unprotected sex or go see your doctor for birth control of some kind. The peace of mind is so worth it! And most doctors do a pregnancy test before they give you birth control so you will know for sure then.

Hi. I know the feeling my husband could look at me wrong and I got pregnant. I think you are okay your first couple of periods will be really out of wack after the baby.I bleed for 3-4 weeks after birth quit for a week then started again. I am very off on my dates and it hasn't been long enough for our bodies to adjust. Our hormones are still out of wack and some days I still have brown spotting and clots then I don't. I had my baby 9 weeks ago so I know how you feel. I just had the IUD put in because I think I am done with babies for now at least it did not hurt and was really easy. If you have any concerns give your ob a call and then if you are done for now look into the iud if that works for you. I think you fine just your body adjusting.
