Hey C.! Although it is often just described as cradle cap, seborrheic dermatitis is the technical term for it. It's just called cradle cap when babies have it on the scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis can be on the scalp, face, or body. It can start at any age, and it is often an ongoing condition. If you get it cleared up, it would still be good to treat a couple times a week to keep it from flaring up. I usually recommend using over-the-counter clotirmazole cream 1% (the generic for Lotrimin) found in the foot care aisle. It is anti-fungal, not steroid. So, you can use it regularly and not worry about breaking your skin down. I would recommend using a topical steroid, like the over-the-counter Cortaid or Cortizone 10, only if you are having a bad flare. Also, you may want to wash your face with an anti-dandruff shampoo while in the shower. I think someone previously mentioned salicylic acid, which is in the Neutrogena T-Sal shampoo. That is one that I recommend often. It is also the medicine in the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne wash.
I hope you clear soon!
A.
