I recently started up a little home business that involves craft blocks. I am curious if anyone out there has had a booth at a craft festival that could give me some assistance. I am trying to figure out how many items of each of my sets I should take to setup. I also am curious if you have taken custom orders at this type of event and how you did it and if it was successful. Any other advance anyone has would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks Mammas!

I totally agree that a full craft booth, is the best craft booth. You want to have as much product (without looking crazy) as possible. I did not have great luck with custom orders at craft fairs. I found that people felt better about ordering custom things through a "store" rather then a booth. If someone was interested in a custom order, I would go through my etsy shop. I would set up a custom order for them there, and send them an email notifying them. They would then order through the etsy, pay through the etsy, and I would ship. I didn't get any custom orders, until I started this way. If I were you, I would start out taking custom orders like Momma L suggested. See if that works for you. If it doesn't, you might look into having an online shop.

I do craft shows ( I have a candy business) and I also set up a craft show at our parish at church. I can tell you that you will do much much better by having as much product available as possible. Some people will order but if your able to have it ready to sell and hand over you will sell more. so bring as much as you can and if your able then have more back up ready to go in your car/van lol.

I have done many craft fairs, for lots of different kid of items. But lately it has been for my handmade jewelry. Here is what my booth looked like one year:

For custom orders, I have a printed out sheet, (Name, phone, email, order details, cost, time to be delivered/picked up, deposit). I required a small deposit for the order, and the rest due upon delivery. That is worked out you deliver, they pick up or you ship. *(Oh, like Bug said, direct them to your etsy shop for custom orders. Bad thing here, is that they may forget or 'lose your website'. If you take a deposit on a sheet, than you have that sale.)

A full craft booth is the best craft booth. So, have as many as you can :)
