I'm planning ahead here, but what are some fun and creative ways that you announced your pregnancy to your family and friends? We're trying for our second child and I really want to tell everyone in a unique way.

What can I do next?

I read about one once that the family sent out a postcard with a picture of the family and then the inside like a Visa card commercial.

You could do it with, say, your New Year/Christmas/Hanukkah card (you get the idea)

Holiday Outfits: $200
Photographs for cards: $150
Finding out there are four of us in this picture: Priceless.

And then you can put your personal message announcing the pregnancy :)

I made cards that were babyish and enclosed a picture from the first ultrasound. Then on the envelope I wrote call before opening so we could hear our families reactions to when they found out. I learned to write on both sides of the envelope "not to open until calling" after doing this. It was a lot of fun.

when I found out the sex of our baby, I sent my husband blue balloons at work.

You could use a variation on Heather's excellent idea by having your older child hold pink & blue balloons in the photo!

For #3, On Halloween, we dressed our almost 2 year old son (he is #2) as a BumbleBee and put a T-shirt I designed on him that said "I AM A BIG BROTHER TO BEE" and had a bee drawn on it :) It took a few seconds for everyone in the family to realize what it said and meant :) We all get together to trick or treat every year and we have 11 nieces and nephews.

For #2, we had all the family over for a usual monthly get together, made homemade pizzas and spelled out in sausage "Baby #2 is on the way" for everyone to see.

For #1, we were announcing during a family grab-bag. We put an extra wrapped gift on the table -- it was my ultrasound at about 9 weeks in a CD case and wrapped. My brother in law opened it, thought it was a CD for a few seconds then started staring at all the women in the room till we busted out laughing.

We try to make each announcement something fun :)

Good luck coming up with your own creative way!

I just recently went through this myself. To announce the second I got a pin for my daughter that said I'm a big sister, then I told her to show Grandma and Grandpa her new pin. They were so excited! I was hoping to wait til she could also show them an ultrasound picture but we couldn't wait that long.

Good Luck!!

My SIL started asking when we were going to have a baby the day we got back from our honeymoon and each week after. We kept telling her "IT" was broken, so no kids for awhile.

When we decided to have a child a few years later and I was pregnant, we wrapped up a wrench and included a note "It's Fixed" and had her open it in front of the family. It took a few minutes, but eventually everyone figured it out.

Well with my second pregnancy I wrote "I'm gonna be a big sister" on my daughters diaper and ask my MIL to change her diaper for me. When she took her pants off she was shocked and loved it. With this pregnancy I got pregnant right before my hubby got deployed to Iraq so I got a shirt that said "Half of my heart is in Iraq, Half of his is here" with an arrow pointing to my belly and i just wore that in front of everyone. But they have all kid of cute maternity shirts at cafepress.com so you could take a look there. I also thought of just bring pictures of my kids and saying hey look at these pictures I got developed and sticking my ultra sound picture in the stack.

We once received an "expecting" announcement that looked like a the old "coming soon to a theater near you" movie trailer.

And my daughter and her husband announced to their FB friends by posting a photograph of an open oven with a hamburger bun inside it.

I love Heather's idea, but since this would be your second I think having your olde child wearing a big brother or sister shirt and sending pictures to friends and family, or when you are all together, would be perfect. Kind of await to see how long it takes for friends and family to notice what the tee shirt says!
