Hi P.,
My son to is circumcised and I have not seen or heard of this before, maybe you should take him in to see the doctor or give them a call. Maybe something else is going on. Good Luck! :)
I edited this to give more info. Thanks for your replies. My son is circumcised. He is 12 weeks old. He cries, sometimes wails, before he pees usually when he is sleeping as if he is shocked by it. He doesn't cry when he is peeing mostly before but sometimes is still upset after. Other times, he pees he doesn't cry.
Hi P.,

If he has a recent circumcision which is healing, then it's normal for him to cry, the acidity of the urine burns when it makes contact with the surgical wound.
If the circumcision is healed, it's possible that he has a UTI and I'd call your baby's doctor. Good luck
Not to repeat anything that has already been said, but speak to your doctor. My son had the some problems after he was born. He would let out this ear piercing scream everytime he peed. It broke my heart that he went throught that everytime he peed. But unlike your son mine stopped the screaming well before 12 weeks. I would think first it my be an infection from the circ.
UTI's IN BOYS ARE VERY UNCOMMON.
That came from my pediatrican. My son has fluid in his kidney. It's been there since he has been in the womb. I had extra ultrasounds while carrying him to monitor it. Since he's been born they did anothor ultrasound directly on him to see how bad it was. Still fliud in the kidney and they thought possible Kidney reflux!! (where they said it could lead to UTI's which are uncommon in BOYs) So he went for another test, VCUG where they shot a dye into his bladder and monitored it to see how much would get into thte kidney. Good news no reflux!!
As said before call your doctor let them know, it might be something infected from the circ.
Best of luck!!
I would make note of what you've eaten prior (maybe within last 24 hours) to the times that he cries....it could be a food allergy coming out that way <provided you're breastfeeding> just a thought,,, otherwise i'd think recurrent infection that should be looked at... good luck.
I would call the doc on this one.
get to the doctor! Sounds like a urinary tract infection or it could be something more serious.
P.,
He might have a urinary tract infection...so I would take him to the doc ASAP...my daughter had one about 3 months ago and we never would have known she had it...except for the fact that everytime she peed she screamed....the way they test for this is very simple...they use this cup kind of thing that has a sticky part on it that sticks to them...when they pee it collects in there and they send that off to the lab....when the results came back positive she was on antibiotics for 10 days and he told me to avoid bubbles in the tub and powder when diapering them....if he is a newborn it may be a normal thing after being circumsised....if not, again I would take him to the pediatrician.
Meg :)
Take him to your doctor..just to make sure he hasn't contracted a infection of some sort...

Have you had him checked for a tract infection?
You should take your son to his doctor right away. Anytime a child cries while doing something ordinary indicates a problem.
P., you don't mention how old your child is, I would say that if he is a NEW BORN, its most likely the sensation of peeng feels wierd, or the urine could sting the area,
USE plenty of vaseline all over the area, at every diaper change which would be every 2 hours, this is also the feed schedule for a newborn.
If he is older, SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR ASAP

See the doctor, see the doctor, see the doctor...
I don't want to alarm you, but my daughter used to do that as a baby and around eight months started running a fever and none of the doctors could understand why. After seven days of being in the dr. office with a child at 104.7 fever they finally catheterized her and found that she had an awful urinary tract infection. I had to take her to a pediatric urologist and found out the reason behind the crying and infection was something called kidney reflux, it's where a child is not able to empty their bladder completely and the flap at the end of the uretor stays open so the urine ends up back near the kidneys thus causing an infection. She's since had a very simple surgery to correct it and is now right as rain. Something else to look for is undersoaked diapers. If you're going three to four hours and the diaper is just mildly wet I'd take him to a doctor. We just had a son last October and he too was circumsized and that healed pretty quickly, certainly sooner than 12 weeks.
