I am looking for crockpot recipes. I usually just end up using allrecipes.com but does anyone have any other sites or good recipes for crockpots. I have a whole chicken that I would like to cook and have never done in the crockpot. Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

I just found this blog, http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

This woman made something in her crockpot every day for a whole year. I've tried 3 of her recipes and so far, my family has liked them all. I'm trying another today - Coq au Vin. Most seem pretty easy. I didn't search for one using a whole chicken, but I'd be surprised if she didn't have one that did. On the left side of her page is a listing of recipes by category.

Good luck!

L.

If you will email me ____@____.com, I will forward you a email that has over a 100 crock-recipes. All you do is click on the meal you want to cook and the recipe pops up. I can't send it as a link. The only way is to forward the email.

Hi A.,

When I cook whole chickens in my Crockpot I season the chicken really good either with Lemon Pepper seasoning or I BBQ it. I don't put in any water. I put it on low and either go to work or I put it on at night and it's ready in the morning. The key i've found is that I don't add any water.

I cook several things in the crockpot. A pot roast always turns out very tender after cooking all day. I put the roast in (frozen or thawed), add whatever veggies we want (carrots, green beans, potatoes, etc.) and then pour two cans of cream of mushroom soup and one french onion soup over it. Don't salt it or add onion of your own. Cook it 7-8 hrs. and it will be perfect. You can also do the same with the meat and veggies, skip the soups, and pour a can of coke over it. I also make chili, spaghetti sauce, and soups in the crockpot. Just use the usual recipe but put it in the crock pot and let it cook on low. BBQ chicken can be made easily by cooking boneless breasts with a little bit of water on low for several hours and about an hr. before you are ready to eat them, pour a bottle of BBQ sauce over them. They will be so tender! Super easy and my family loves it.

Oprah had a show yesterday (Wednesday, March 11) with Celebrity Chefs & they shared some "slow cooker" recipes. Visit her website http://www.oprah.com/index. Click on the Wednesday segment...

Good Luck!

I love the site www.myrecipes.com - it's all of Southern Living's recipes and Cooking Light's recipes including lots of crock pot stuff. Search under "slow cooker" as well. I don't know if light recipes are an issue, but the Cooking Light crockpot recipes I've found on there are FABULOUS! There is one for Guiness-braised beef brisket that may have produced the best meat I've ever put in my mouth! There's also a feature on the site where you can have your own "recipe box" that's stored on the site and you can save your faves to it.

With a whole chicken, you can add rice and water and your favorite cream soups (cream of mushroom, etc)and any veggies you may want, or no veggies. You end up with chicken and rice and the soup makes the gravy.
