Hi moms!

I am currently 8 wks pregnant. I exercise a little bit, but I would like to increase my workout just a bit. Are doing crunches ok? If so, when is the latest I can do them? I don't want to hurt my little one.

Any advice is much appreciated!!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Talk to your doctor about this; don't rely on strangers on the internet for info that could damage you or your baby. Good luck!

I would suggest following your Ob's direction. When I was pregnant, I was very cautious because I didn't want to gain a ton of weight AND I wanted to maintain my routine which kept me in good shape.

Per my Dr., I got involved with a prenatal class at the hospital. I loved it. We were supervised with our exercises, we met other moms like ourselves who wanted to have a healthy pregnancy and keep ourselves in the best shape possible.

Even if you don't find a class at a hospital, I believe some prenatal classes are offered with some health clubs.

Best wishes and good luck on your pregnancy!

I could be wrong, but I was always under the impression that you shouldn't increase your work outs during pregnancy. You should maintain the same fitness level you were before you were pregnant, but not increase it. I'd continue doing exactly what you are doing, but don't increase it until you see your doctor.

I would ask your doctor to be sure b/c each dr has a diff opinion as I have found out. In all honesty, I don't think you will be able to do crunches too much longer anyway b/c of your belly. It is a little hard to bend at some point! Good luck!
