I have a 3 yr old daughter and would be happy to ship you some clothes she has outgrown. Let me know the details.
We have been displaced out of our home due to Hurricane Ike recently. Our 2 year old girl and 5 year old son lost a lot of their clothes and I was was wondering if anyone knew any good thrift stores on-line or clearance websites for kids clothing. I also need to buy winter clothes for my 9 year old. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help you with the boys clothes but you can get good priced name brand clothing at www.allaboutgirlsclothing.com
for girls of all ages - newborn to teen. They're based in Texas so if you're in Texas too the shipping is very very reasonable because it's EXACT shipping according to weight and zip code - no "handling" fee. Good luck!
I am sure there would be someone who would be willing to give you clothes! There are places on craigslist where you can place "wanted" ads. Also, have you heard of freecycle? There should be one that is located in your area where people offer items for free and you can ask for items as well.
If you were in my area, I would GIVE you clothes. I have 4 boys and my 6 yr old already asked me if he could give some away to Hurricane Ike victims.
Blessings,
M.

M.,
I want to say you and all the others that have been displaced are in my thoughts daily. I have a 5 & almost 7 year old boys and we have some clothes that they have grown out of. I had plan on having a garage sale prior to Ike but now I want to give those in need the clothes and toys, etc. I am sure I have something for your 5 year old but probably not anything for the 9 year old. If you are interested you can email me at ____@____.com.
Hey M.,
I don't know where you are displaced too, but if you are in the Houston area there is a really great website called www.Kingwoodyardsales.com. It's local to the Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble area, but there are websites for areas all around Houston as well as other major cities and states. Check out the link. I believe at the bottom of the page it shows the links to the other area websites.
Good luck with everything. We too got some damage to our house, but very minor compared to some. I wish you the best.
Hi M.
What size is your 5yr.boy? I have a 5yr. old also, but lots of clothes. Let me know.
M.,
What size do you two youngest ones wear? I have a 6 (almost 7 year old boy) and recently went thru his closet and pulled out tons of size 5 clothes, as well as a few size 4's. I have jeans, shorts, shirts (long and short sleeve), shoes, jackets, and sweaters. I also have a 5 year old girl. I'm not sure how petite your little girl is, but I have plenty of size 4, and possibly some size 3 clothes. Let me know if you are interested in any of this. I live in the gulf coast area, but was very lucky thru Hurrican Ike, and would more than happy to help!
This is not really what you asked because you were specific about on line; however, I do ALOT of shopping at goodwill. The goodwill stores in this area have great selections and reasonable prices. There is also a kid consignment shop in Leander called Kid Kaboom. I have not been there, but see their signs often and have wanted to go. Also, a friend just told me about gymboree website. I think it is called www.gymbofriends.com There are people on their selling their gymboree clothes and they are darling. Good luck and sorry about your experience with Ike!

Try joining your local freecycle. It is a group of people that put in requests and offers of FREE items. They are a great group of people, and VERY willing to help. Freecycle.org is the site, then you punch in your zip. Good luck!
Let me start by saying that my prayers are with you.. I really do not know of any thrift stores online, but what about ebay? It is very easy to use.. you have to create an ebay account and can pay using paypal which is safe.. The only thing is that you might have to wait to actually 'win' the auction. Some may have a 'buy it now' option which would help you get the items you need quicker.
I see that you are from Winnie, but are you still in that area or are you staying somewhere else? My thought is that there are many neighborhoods that have area wide garage sales this time of year. I have found some nice clothes for my daughter in years past.. It might be worth a trip to the Houston area one weekend. Let me know if you are interested in this idea and I will find some for you!
Best of luck!
I know you can go to a OunceUpon A Child. They sale just about everything you need for kids at resale prices. I worked at one in houston and they only take really nice clothes, furniture, toys, etc.. You can go to ouac.com to find one close to you.
go to houston.craigslist.org - there are lots of things listed for free on there, especially for folks in need of anything after Ike. If you don't find anything in the free listings, there are plenty of other listings that may be able to help you.
You should join/post a wanted ad on Freepeats. I'm sure there are plenty of mamas willing to help you out.
Have you been able to check with the Salvation Army? Lots of people from our church have donated lots of nice clothes for all you guys, and I have personally taken 3 of those large loads to them. I don't know if you're back "at home" or here in San Antonio if you evacuated here. They do have "stores" but if you tell them you were in Ike, I think they have a different place they keep those donations. Main ####-###-####
In San Antonio we also have CAM, Christian Assistance Ministries, who usually charge minimal fees after an interview, but may not be doing that for Ike victims. Main # ###-###-####, one at our church ###-###-#### (NW San Antonio).
I also help with a refugee ministry here and we have had a ton of donations. My friend who does the sorting could look for clothes for you & we'd be more than happy to send them.
Just email me and let me know, ok? Sorry I don't know about anything online except www.craigslist.com (or maybe .org)
It's like a garage sale online and they have lots of things, maybe clothes too.

What part of town are you in? I know of several! Good quality and good prices. I go to H.A.A.M. a few times a month (Humble Area Assistance Ministries)and know that several Houston communities have their own version of this...there is also a location N.A.M. in the Champions area on 1960, but I have not visited there yet, and also T.A.A.M. in Tomball area on Main street in Tomball (FM 2920). Usually, they have daily specials and also have some furniture and other household items as well...cheaper than Goodwill.
Good luck with everything and God bless!
Have your enrolled your 9 year old in school? If so, then talk to your school counselor - He/She will be able to connect you with all kinds of resources for your whole family.
In AISD we have special programs set up for just this type of sitution.
Hang in there, and please let us know how things are going.
Best,
T.
I am so sorry for your loss I just couldn't imagine having to go through that. I have gotten alot of nice things off of Ebay and southeasttexas.com as well. I hope these are some helpful sites for you. Again I am sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Please please please check your local freecycle organization. Go to www.freecycle.org to find you local one and sign up. You get things for free, you can also give things away or ask specifically for what you need. It helps people keep from throwing away what others might want/need.
Have you also checked with local churches? Many have resources to help you out. Good luck and God Bless.
M., I dont know where you live, but there is a really nice, clean Goodwill in SugarLand, Missouri City off of Hwy 6. There is also a Little Tykes consignment store off Hwy 6 and Settlers Way that has nice clothes for a reasonable price. Hope this helps and Good luck.
M. what size is your 2 year old girl. I have a 2 year old great granddaughter, who has some clothes, that she has outgrown, or we could share. The only thing is that she is petite and still has some 12months, 18 months pants, are a little long on her, let me know where you live and what size, and I will go through what I have and also see what her mom may have. I am in the austin, area, and assume you must be on the coast.
I am sorry for the loss of your things and glad you are okay!
You might consider posting an ad on Freecycle. Here is the group from Georgetown, surely Austin has one too if that is where you are staying.

Freecycling is awesome. People really help each other out. Just post what you need and who knows, someone might have a bag of clothes they are planning on taking to the thrift store. I have a 9 and a 7 year old (boys) and might have things for you if you are close to Georgetown. I know I have sneakers! Their feet grow SO FAST!
Good luck!
