Hi Moms,

I have curly hair, and I usually straighten it. I would like to grow out my hair, and have a nice frizz free defined curl/wave look. Any shampoos/conditioners/styling products you use to acheive this look?

Thanks in advance.

Hi! I have medium length curly hair too and I have a little recipe I swear by. Let it be known that growing up with a mom who always owned her own beauty shop, I've tried ALOT of curly hair products; I'm my own guinea pig!
After washing my hair and towel drying it (you never want your hair dripping with water when applying product) I sparingly apply Infusium 23 (repairologie) leave-in treatment. I comb it through and let it marinate, lol, for about 10 mins then I use L'Oreal Studio Upward Spiral Springing curls-curl defining mousse. Then I run it through my hair and without combing, I just let my hair do what it does naturally. When its almost completely dry, I use the blow dryer simply to scrunch it and give it bounce & volume (i hang my head down for this, works wonders). That's it. I know it may sound like a lot but it really doesn't take that long at all. P.S. when I'm all out of the mousse, I use Catwalk Curls Rock-curl amplifier. My newest acquisition and I love it! All you need is one pump; hair curls nicely and soft, no frizz, no wet look, no crunchiness. Hope this helps!

Redken Fresh Curls line is awesome! Also, try not to touch your hair too much with your fingers, that can cause frizziness, and definately don't use a brush after your hair is dry. The fresh curls combined with a diffuser has always given me and my clients a perfect curl!

I love Pureology products. I use the volumizing (color care) shampoo and conditioner. The stuff that is worth spending the money for ($22-32) is the REalCurl curl definer and Glossing Mist shine serum. I use a small dollop of curl creme and a spray of shine serum together in my hands and run it all through. I use a bit of blow drying with the diffuser for bounce.
I use the same products when I dry it out with a round brush. Then I get pretty "waves" that aren't stick straight but are more sophisticated.

Sorry for the edit, I thought of this last night: I don't wash my hair every day, but I refresh the curls with a spray bottle. I use water and a couple drops of lavender oil (smells good) and spritz to reshape and smooth curls.

Hair glossing in salon treatment! I too have frizzy curly hair. I love my hair straight too. Glossing is a clear gloss they apply to your hair, then it is heated under a drier for 20 minutes cool for 10 minutes then rinsed...Result is SHINY Frizz free, managble hair. We do it our salon $30 www.JamesTricociSalon.com Most products I have tried just make it greasie or crunchy.

Since having kids, I've given up on straightening my hair and I now go naturally curly. I have found that the KMS "Flat Out" shampoo and conditioner has been excellent. They also offer a balm that I put in. On humid or rainy days, I also add a bit of Frizz-Ez serum to keep the frizz down. Of course, I air dry only. You'll probably need to experiment with the amount/combo of products so your hair isn't "crunchy" (and looks wet) or ends-up frizzy! Good luck!
