CUTE Maternity Clothes Needed!!

It has been years since I was pregnant and I have no idea where to get cute maternity clothes! The maternity clothes at Oak Park Mall have closed, and I only "kind of" like Motherhood Maternity items. I am almost 6 feet tall and slender. Where did you mamas find your clothes? Did you do ebay, craigslist, maternity stores online? I can sometimes find maternity clothing cheap at Kid's Closet consignment sales... but I am needing clothes pretty soon and since I am so tall/thin it can be hit or miss at the sales... Oh, and I should put on here that pea in the pod or anywhere that charges $100 for jeans is out of my budget :)

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

What can I do next?

I agree with you not wanting to spend a small fortune on maternity clothes. After all, I am NOT looking to make a career out of being pregnant to justify hundreds of dollars on clothes that I will wear for well less than a year.

I love Target and Kohl's. Cute clothes, reasonably priced. I don't shop many other places, but I have found Motherhood Maternity brand at some department stores (JC Penny, Boscov's)...and you are more likely to find sales there rather than buying directly at a Motherhood Maternity store.

In the past, I have bought maternity clothes off eBay, but I have found it to be hit or miss. A couple pieces I've bought don't fit right or the way they should (maybe they were washed incorrectly or maybe they were irregulars to begin with). Another option is to find a mom-friend who saved her maternity clothes and is willing to loan them to you! I did this with baby #2. 3 of my friends lent me their entire maternity wardrobes, so I didn't have to buy a thing!

My advice is to buy maternity clothes that don't look like maternity clothes and that you will be able to wear year after year (when you're not pregnant), so it isn't money wasted. Luckily the fashion trend right now allows for some maternity clothes to look like normal ones.

Good luck & Congrats!!!

My favorites were Old Navy and Kohl's when they had sales. The other thing I did was get some lots off of Ebay which I was really pleased with!

Ugh!!! I feel your pain. I'm 5'9" and can not find any jeans long enough. The one pair I do own I paid $40 from Motherhood Maternity. As for shirts I can't find a good selection either. The ones that I own already are already tight and I'm only at 23 weeks today (i'm sure they won't make it the whole way). Please post again if you do find some great deals or stores of where I can also look. I have been to JCP and Kohl's and have bought from both stores. My other problem is that I need everything from things to wear around the house to church to the professional office setting.

Thanks and congrats hope you shopping gets better too!

I second the previous 2 posters... Old Navy, Target, Gap.

One more to add, Kohl's.

You can also try JCPenney's. They sometimes have very good deals on online maternity clearance.

Dear Jill,
I hope you find some cute clothes. I think it's so important to feel pretty when you're pregnant.
I had the hardest time finding things too. When I was pregnant, I looked like an apple on tooth picks. I was so tiny everywhere but my belly.
My mom took me to K-mart and I actually found some really cute things there even though I'd been unsuccessful at some of the specialty maternity shops.
$100 for a pair of maternity jeans? Forget it! I wouldn't have paid that even if I could find some to fit. If your wealthy, I guess it's no big deal to spend that on something you'll wear a few months. I just could never see the point.
The best pants I found had little zipper tracks on the side so they could be let out as my belly grew. They had pockets and weren't the elastic belly things that never worked for me.
Find a store that has things you like and just go for it. I found some really nice things brand new that weren't all that expensive.
I hope you get some great advice and congratulations on your baby!

Good luck to you. I am only 5 foot 2 and have trouble getting anything that will cover the belly down to the pants tops without it looking like a circus tent. Most of the clothes I have are JCPenny and Old Navy. There is a great site called Lilac Maternity Clothes that have beautiful tops, although one of the ones I got now isn't long enough and I still have 6 weeks to go. They are a little pricier, but I have found them on sale occasionally, and since they can be worn when not pregnant and some even while nursing, I think it is worth the investment.

Have you looked at JCPenney Outlet at 75th and I-35? I think it's hit-or-miss there, but they often have the taller sizes. I also bought a good bit of my maternity at Target.

Target has started having some great stuff and Old Navy, check their website and find which stores have the maternity stuff in store (some do and some don't). I found awesome stuff and it was way cheaper than the PEA (which I loved but couldn't afford). Congrats!!

Hey, Jill! Congrats on the new bun in the oven! Excited for you guys. Try Burlington at Shawnee Mission Pkwy and Quivira. I was surprised by how much they had when I went three years ago; hopefully it's still the same. Whatever you find will be cute if you're wearing it! :)

I don't see this below so Destination Maternity. It has both A pea in the pod and Motherhood. They are hit and miss with prices but they seperate the expensive from inexpensive. It has replaced all Kansas City Motherhood stores except the outlet at Legends. Good Luck!

The best pair of maternity pants I bought was from the GAP with an adjustable waistband ($30 on sale). You will need to bring some time to peruse their sale section... but the had the cutest mat clothes.
I also bought from Target and Old Navy and you're right, don't pay more than what you would pay for regular clothes.

Also check with friends, whether you can borrow or swap clothes...
