Cy-Fair Or New HWY 290 Hospital?

I just sent off a MamaSource request for an OBGYN, before I was finished typing - darn computer!

I was also wondering if anyone had recommendations on either the Cy-Fair hospital on 1960 or with the new one on 290 North. Any experiences or stories with deliveries/staff/administration with either is greatly appreciated!

My current OBGYN with Willowbrook Methodist won't see me until I'm EIGHT weeks along because I took a home pregnancy test that was positive and I would like to get in sooner than that!!!

This just gave me the excuse I needed to switch OBGYNs.

What can I do next?

None of my OBY/GYN or Midwives wouldn't see me until I was 8 weeks along unless, of course, there are complications such as bleeding. There is not much they would do other than make certain you are getting the proper vitamins. You can get a wonderful prenatal vitamin from Whole Foods or Central Market or a Health Food Store. I have 3 children and never took the prescribed ones. Congratulations!

North Cypress Medical Center does not do deliveries as of yet. The hospital is pretty, but that is all that it has to offer (in my opinion).

I realize that you're in the NW. Since Willowbrook is no longer an option for you, I'd suggest Memorial City. The group that I go to is Greater Houston Ob-Gyn.

They call in a prescription for your prenatal vitamins, and then set up an appointment for the 6 week mark. Any sooner than that, they really can't determine the viability of the pregnancy. The 1st appt. they do an US to verify, and make sure that it's not a tubal. Anyhow, I know it'd be a little longer drive, but it is well worth it.

I am also a patient of Northwest Women's OB/GYN and LOVE my doctor!! I had complications a few days after delivering my daughter and he came in on his day off to check on me instead of sending the "on call" doctor! All of my family and friends are patients of his. The problem with the new hospital on 290 is that they are not contracted with many insurance companies. I have Blue Cross and my sister has either Aetna or United Healthcare and neither are accepted there. I do know that Cy-Fair has HUGE post pardom rooms which is nice if you have lots of family and friends to visit you.

Forget the hospital and hire a midwife. It will be the best decision you ever make. Feel free to chat me up about it.

In the event NW Cypress Med Center opens a labor/delivery option by the time you are ready to have your baby - use them. OK, my medical emergency was not related at all to having a baby but the emergency room staff, doctors and nursing staff were absolutely fantastic. The doctors I had were extremely professional and knowledgeable. The nurses were compassionate and usually a step ahead of me when I ever needed anything. The only downside is your insurance may not be affiliated with them, yet. If they are, you won't be disappointed. You will be well taken care of.

Well to start off I would have to say Methodist Willowbrook all the way!!! But that's only cause I work there :) . I go to Northwest Women's OB/GYN and they do take a while to see patients. But look at it this way you can always go see the Nurse Practioner they are just as good and you don't have to wait as long to see them.

As far as the other Hospitals:
Cy-Fair has a really good Labor & Delivery. I've had friends and relatives deliver there with Dr. Castillo.
North Cypress I don't know anything about except that it looks like a Hotel when you walk in.

If I get sick, everyone who knows me, knows not to take me to Cy-Fair Hospital. I don't have any personal experiences with the hospital at 290 and Huffmeister, but I have know so many people over my 23 years in Cypress, that have been in Cyfair Hopsital. I wouldn't go to Cy Fair Hospital if I were you.
