I have suffered all my life with raccoon eyes. I am constantly being told that I look older and tired. My sister is 47 and my brother is 42 and everyone thinks that I am older than them and I am only 37. Of course, this has affected my self-esteem greatly, not to mention my sex life. Has anyone found a product that actually helps with dark circles? I am an african american woman with sensitive skin. I also suffer from eczema on my face, so I have very rough looking skin. So, I am looking for products for sensitive skin. Can anyone help or offer some encouragement?? Thanks!!!
Hi T.,
I use Coverblend by Neostrata. You can find these products at a lot of stores (like Nordstrom) but here is a link as well. Works very well and coverage lasts all day long. I'm reading the other replies you received - I agree you should look into allergy issues and I've also heard great things about Arbonne products - my girlfriend sells them but I've never tried them. However, I hear they work well too. Here;s the link:

Have you tried Bare Escuentuals? Oh it's the best! It's a mineral based make-up and I have been using it for almost a year and I hardly have breakouts anymore. It's wonderful for the skin, plus it has and spf of 15. I wonder if you might need the concealer too? Anyway go to bareescentuals.com, and if you decide to try get the starter kit. It doesn't come with concealer but you can buy that separately!

Clinique (www.clinique.com) makes a product called "All About Eyes" that works well for the dark circles. They make lots of other skincare products too so may have stuff for sensitive skin. It is expensive & doesn't really go on sale but they do sometimes have special offers, free samples, etc. It is also sold at many department stores (Macy's, Carson's, etc.) and they sometimes have coupons that can be used on Clinique. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi T.!
I'm K. and I want to thank Toni for referring me. You are so not alone in this battle of skin. Arbonne has amazing products that are all botanically based so there are no harsh chemicals, alcohol, perfumes, dyes, etc. that will irritate your very sensitive skin. We have an awesome eyecream as well that has a plant based acid that is a skin lightener. I swear by it and almost all my customers use it. I would love to send you some pictures of real people but I would need your email address. Reply to me at ____@____.com and I think you'll see that pictures "say a thousand words". I look forward to hearing from you and helping you win this battle. So many people have done it already and are holding their heads high! YOU will too. Have a great day now!

These are all great suggestions, but if you try most of these and don't see improvement, try consulting an ENT doctor (EarNoseThroat). My daughter (10) has battled dark circles and eczama under her eyes for 5 years. We have been to family doctors, pediatricians, an allergist, a pediatric dermatologist...They all tried different creams, antihistimines, etc, and some things would help for a while, but never really make it go away all the way. For a separate issue, we went to an ENT, and she said that they needed to take out her tonsils and adenoids. She also said that taking out her adenoids would probably clear up all the stuff around her eyes. WHAT? You mean I have done everything I could possibly do as her mother - aleergy testing, switching to expensive free and clear detergents, shampoos, etc, constantly slathering her with ointments, and MANY OTHER THINGS - and NONE of these doctors ever mentioned that chronically infected adenoids can cause these circles? We had her surgery last week, and her eyes already look 75% better! Doc said it could take up to 6 weeks for them to heal all the way.

Hi T., a couple of thoughts
*Have you considered allergies-dark circles under the eyes can be a sign or either food or enviromental allergies-you may want to be tested. Dealing with those allergies may make those dark areas go away.
*I use an amazing skincare line from Shaklee called Enfuselle which has a great under eye cream. If allergies aren't the issue perhaps Shaklee's eye treatment might help. Let me know if you would like to know how to get it.
God Bless, Cathi
Hope that helps

Hi T.. My chiropracter says that the type of dark circles under your eyes is related mainly to dairy alergies and also some other food alergies. My son has the same thing. His is related to dairy. I would highly suggest getting a food alergy screening. Also, remember that you are a beautiful woman. I know that sometimes we feel uncomfortable with how we look, but I am sure that you have other smokin hot features that you can focus on. Good luck..

I highly suggest finding the nearest Bare Escentuals/Minerals dealer in your area. They usually have this makeup line in store fronts like salons or skin care businesses. There are also actual Bare Escent. stores in
these malls. They have makeup for women of all complexions. I have sensitive skin and these products don't irritate me at all. Good luck and go get yourself a free makeover. It will make you feel beautiful.

I have the same problem but my sister in law used to sell Arbonne products and I love them. They are all natural and they sell and eye syrum that works wonderful. It's a bit pricey ($40) but it lasts at least six months. I can see the difference when I get out of my routine and don't use it for a few weeks. It also seems to brighten up my eyes.

Hi T.,
For some people, dark circles are an indication of allergies or a nutritional deficiency. I scanned one of my Shaklee discussion groups and found people getting rid of dark circles by addressing allergies but also adding Shaklee's multivitamin Vita Lea and B-Complex. Each person is unique, but changing diet to more fruits and veggies can help just about everyone. Shaklee also has a nutritional skincare line called Enfuselle. Below is a testimonial from one product user regarding dark circles under the eye. If you would like more info or a sample, I would be happy to provide it.
"Pores Tighten -- Dark Circles Lighten!
I am 26 years old with normal to oily skin type. I have been using Enfuselle for 3 weeks and have already noticed a tremendous change in my face. For starters, I have always had large and very visible pores on my nose with lots of blackhead problems. Enfuselle has tightened those pores to the point where I need to get very close to the mirror to see them! Another battle for me has been dark circles under the eyes. I look back at my kindergarten picture and I had dark circles! I always believed they were from lack of sleep and also a heredity issue. I have noticed a substantial lightening after using the eye treatment. Shannon Robinson"

I use Arbonne products and it helps, however, the main reason why we have dark under eye circles is that it is an indication of food and environmental allergies. In Chinese Medicine it indicates a weak kidney energy and have to build up your kidneys by eating foods that nourish them such as quinoa (keen-wa), salmon, trout, blackberries, blueberries, walnuts, onions to name a few. The book I would recommend and where the info came from is "You Are What You Eat" By Dr. Gillian McKeith. Your skin is the key to what is going on inside the body! So Eczema is another key sign that you are suffering from food allergies, particulaly dairy and nuts. I have dark circles and a combo of eliminating dairy and arbonne eye cream, I am able to see a huge difference. Also make sure you are getting at least 7hrs of sleep per night. Cucumbers on the eyes is not a myth, it helps reduce swelling! :) Good luck!

I have heard that vitamin K creams are great, but I have yet to find one LOL. I also have extremely sensitive skin, and the beginnings of rosacea (yay lucky me). I really, really like Origins Mega Mushroom skin care line for reactive skin. It costs a small fortune, but a little goes a long way, and there eye cream is great. They also have a moisturizing cream that is really great for rosacea, I only got a sample of it becasue I had already spent a fortune the rest of the stuff, and I'll be darned if I can think of the name of it...something like perfect world. Anyhow, the girl who helped me had a son with severe eczema, showed me pics and everything. Cleared it right up in two weeks she said. That being said, I attempted to save money and Boots all natural skin care line from Target that was for sensitive skin, well lets just say I am going back to Orgins.

I had circles under my eyes forever then I found out I have celiac disease, not absorbing enough nutrients. Also overweight preventing me from a good night of sleep, even when I thought I was getting one. So I don' believe a cream or putting anything topical will give a permanent solution. For myself it was exercise, eating according to food needs, boosting up my veggie and fruit intake, losing 50lbs and getting a real night of sleep every night. I have been asked if I had a facelift, nope just living a healthier life. If you feel you have anything going on diabetes, high blood pressure, weight, hypothyroidism, general fatigue, high stress call the doctor make an appointment and see if simple fixes will help your eyes and help you just feel better. This also helped my dry skin by taking care of everything else. I am 38 and still have a long road to travel and want to do it with the best health possible. Good luck.

They worked wonderfully, not only did my skin around my eyes stop itching but the puffy redness went away. Ive always had dark circles under my eyes also because im italian. what i find that works, temperarally is the skin of potatoes. Just lay the inside of the patatoe skin on the area that you want lighter and less swollen until it dries up and you should see a difference, i always do. make sure the patatoe skin is thin though. if they are thick their hard to stick. Hi T.,
I don't think anyone recommended Aveda products yet. I have horribly dry skin - not quite eczema, but similar issues. The Aveda tourmaline line has worked wonders for me. My mom comments every time I see her how much better my skin looks than it used to. I recently started using their under eye cream for dark circles and I am seeing some improvement. There are Aveda stores in the city and at Oak Brook and Woodfield Mall. You can pick up their products at their salons as well. The products are natural and Aveda stands behind them - if you don't like something you purchased after using it at home you can exchange it. The clerks are generally very helpful and they do have a line that is specifically designed for sensitive skin. If you can afford to splurge on yourself a little bit I would highly recommend getting a facial at one of their spa/salons and getting a full consultation with the aesthetician. Hope you find something that works for you.

Apart from prevention, there's also plenty of home cures that can help deal with under eye skin damage. Such as the following:
•Vitamin E - long proven to fight skin aging, vitamin E is an effective partner in reducing current facial lines and stopping new ones from forming. Squeeze out a small amount from a capsule and use directly under the eyes during bedtime.
•Coconut Oil - extremely moisturizing, daily applications in the eye area may cause visible results in a little like a 7 days.
•Grape Seed Oil - is particularly successful for skin damage repair due to its nourishing and also moisturizing properties. Maintains skin hydrated and possesses proanthocyanidins, powerful antioxidants which help slow skin damage. Use some in the eye are during the day.
•Cucumber - very long recognized to be able to relaxed irritated skin. Slice thinly and also use as an eye cold compress in order to loosen up the tissues nearby the eyes.
•Avocado - rich in organic essential oil, avocado is an excellent moisturizer which is effective in order to motivate the skin to produce more of its own oil to be able to moisturize dried out skin.
•Castor oil - one more excellent moisturizer, a few drops can be applied beneath the eyes after cleaning at bed time to keep skin flexible.
•Spirulina - have been discovered to relieve marks and fine lines.
•Dandelion - helpful for skin detoxification and hydration.
Or you can apply any best eye cream for dark circles containing vitamin K and argiline. Dark circles may be caused by a deficiency of vitamin K. Regardless of the cause, however, skin creams containing these two ingredients reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly in many people. Long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect.
