Hi moms out there it is me again I just want to thank all of you for the advice. I call my Ped this moring and they gave me a appointment at 1:15 today and we went to see her and when we spent Tuesday in the er they took x-rays of my daughter and said that there was no Pneumonia and than when I saw my ped today they relooked at the x-ray and said that she does have it. My question is how do I help her to be more comfortabel I have never delt with this before. The Ped put her on a antibotic and a oral steriord to help with the Pneumonia but I just want to know what else I can do to help her be more comfortabel. Did anyone else go through this with the 12mos old? And how did you deal with it? Any help with be great!

My son had Pneumonia when he was 11 months old. After 2 days on the antibiotics he was a new baby. Until he felt better I did a lot of rocking and holding. Keeping baby upright helps them breathe easier. It is tiring for Mom and Dad but helps a lot. You can also use pillows under her mattress to elevate her head while she sleeps. A cool humidifier in what ever room she is in will help a bit too. I used Motrin as well for fever and general aches, because they really do feel all over lousy when they have pneumonia. Continue the medications your pediatrician has given you and you should see an improvement in a short time.

My son is suffering from pneumonia right now too. He is on an oral anitbiotic and is on albuterol and also a steriod through a nebulizer. He is 2 and he bounced back pretty quickly after he was put on the steroid. But before that it was pretty scary! Good Luck.

While my children never had pneumonia my son did suffer from respiratory problems as an infant. In addition to the prescribed medications, he recommended using a cool-mist vaporizer in his bedroom and putting a book under one end of his crib mattress to slightly elevate his head while he slept. Good luck! I hope you daughter feels better soon.

Hi there A.,

My daughter had chronic pneumonia when she was younger. Did your doctors office suggest breathing treatments? Other than that, just tylenol is good to keep her fever from getting too high. She just needs to rest a lot, if you can get her to. :) Coughing is generally good. It helps break up all the mucus in her chest. So, unless it's interfering with her sleep (or her doctor said different) only give a cough suppressant at bed time.

Good luck to you! Please let me know how she's doing in a couple of days. ;)
