We went to a 1yr bday party this weekend. One of the guests got her a zoppini bracelet. I thought that was really neat. It looked adorable on her and it grows each year!
Did anyone get their child something special for their 1st birthday? I don't just want to get her toys or something anyone can get. Just looking for some ideas. I am going to make photo book of her first year after we have her party but I want to give her something else.

My best friend bought my daughter a sterling silver charm bracelet with a charm of Pooh bear (the theme of her first party) and a note that said every year she will buy her a charm on her birthday until she is 16 years old. Her second year she bought her a birthday cake charm with two candles on it and for her third birthday she bought her a charm of a pug - for the puppy pug we got last year. I thought that was the cutest idea and wish I would've thought of it myself!
Hi L.,
A great gift would be to set up a mutual fund account. Each of my 3 kids have one thru Northwestern Mutual - Tony Myers is the contact. You can google him and his phone number will pop up. Tell him D. & Tony from Oak Lawn referred you. We did this for their future college education. He comes to your home with all the information and if you decide not to use him that is ok.
Also I have a mom-owned business if you are looking for party invitations. Feel free to send me an email at ____@____.com
Thanks

I had my twins first baby shoes bronzed. You can order the certificate to send them to the bronzer at exposuresonline.com 1-800-222-4947.Also, I ordered them some very nice photo albums to keep their baby photos in and have kept up with it:)Another idea is an add-a-pearl necklace. you can buy the chain and first pearl and then buy more for holidays etc. My sister started this for our daughter.
How about money towards her college? or savings?
While gifts are fun and definitely should be given, what about setting up a trust fund, bank account, or some other means to financial security that you contribute to (or deposit checks from grandma and grandpa) throughout her childhood and then hand over the reigns at 18 or 21 or whenever?
She's 1. She's not going to remember this birthday and you'd be setting her up with a nice college/car/retirement/housing/whatever fund that will last and be enjoyed far longer than any toy. How nice if her college expenses were (mostly or totally) covered. Or that her down payment on a home is ready to go when she's ready to purchase.
Just a thought in case you hadn't considered it. Happy Birthday to your baby!!
You could get her a china or porcelain baby doll that she could keep forever. there are people who will custom make it just for you. Could have the same hair color and eye color as your daughter. Then get a small rocking chair to set the doll in. It may cost a little but is something she can pass on to her daughter one day.
I would have done this if I even had a girl but no I was blessed with a boy.
Just an idea.

We didn't give our twinkies a sentimental birthday gift persay. Perhaps we should of. Oh well... but what we did was for their party ask people to contribute to a time capsule for them to open on their 18th birthday. My husband and I also contributed. And I think this will be such a treat for them when they are older :)
We bought a time capsule (you can get kits online) and asked the birthday party guests to bring a little something to add to the capsule (we gave a size limit so things would fit). People brought really creative things -- coins from the year she was born, newspaper clippings, political buttons, special messages, tiny keepsake toys, jewelry. We plan to let her open it on her 16th birthday.
My friend got her daughter a precious moments train. The first year she got a little precious moments train with the number one, then when she was 2 she got another one with the number two on it etc.. She is now 8 and looks forward to getting her train piece each year. They have it displayed on a shelf in her room. It really is very cute.
