I am looking fo a fairly cheap place to host my daughter's 8th birthday party in the middle of March. We did camp snoopy last year, bumperbowling previous and chuckie cheese before that. She is very girly at times (clothes, hair, nails etc.) but also loves to be a tomboy (climbing trees, playing in the garden, etc.) She plays Hockey, soccer and is a swimmer. I need some good ideas. i hope someone out there can help me. Thank you very much.

Hi A.,

We recently went to Pump It Up in Oakdale for my 5 year old nephew's birthday party. It was great fun for the kids (ages 3.5 to 10), plus the staff there handles just about everything. All we did was show up and have fun! Pump It Up has huge inflatable slides, trampolines etc to jump around in, with connected party rooms for cake and present opening afterwards.

HI there! I'm also from so st paul! too funny! Does your daughter go to lincoln center? I have an 8,7,4 and six week old now.

Last year for my son's 8th b-day party we had the kids go to the grove in inver grover heights. We are members so we just paid extra for the additional kids and then had a sleepover afterwards. It was a very cheap b-day party compared to many we've had in the past. We then had pizza and cake after we went swimming. THe kids worked up an appetite that way.

I also did daycare for a few years too but quit four years ago.

Hi,

I have heard from friends that L. Lou at the Mall of America is a great place for girls. I believe that they do parties. It is very girly.

Life Time Fitness is also a good place and some locations have a rock wall.

Hope that helps!

Hi! There is a place in the mall of america called "libby Lu" (I think). they put on make up and dress up clothes for the kids. I am sure the # is on the MOA web site. You might also want to try dance studios and gymnastics. Turner's gymnastics in Mendota heights and jamm dance co.(www.jammdanceco.com) in Roseville also has b/day parties. hopes this helps. V. Edinborough Park is a good place for birthdays. It's located in Edina off of 494 and Xerxes Ave.

Check out some of the local beauty schools or colleges that have cosmotology programs. Most of them offer birthday packages where the girls can get hair (updos) and nails for pretty reasonable prices. then you can take them out for lunch or cake and ice cream so they can show off thier fancy hair do's.
