Hey mamas. TIA for any tips. DD and I excited about a father/daughter dance this Sat! I have attempted to curl DD hair using curling iron in past but her hair falls flat as soon as I'm done. She has thick straight red hair. Used to be curly but since her 2nd haircut at age 3 had been straight. I heard years ago dirty hair is easier to style so I will have her wash it Friday night. Should I buy the old fashioned rollers?

What can I do next?

That's why I don't want to cut my DD's hair - I'm afraid her curls will disappear!

Anyway, my sister had really fine hair that wouldn't even take a PERM. I would do something other than curls. I would consider an updo, a fancy braid, some sort of hair accessory instead of just curls. While I did have much of my hair curled, I also had a twist around the top of my head which was very pretty.

How long is her hair? Could you do a waterfall or crown braid? http://www.brit.co/10-unconventional-ways-to-style-a-braid/

What about giving up on the curlers and taking her for a good haircut so that her hair looks great and having her wear a very cute bow!

If you want to use the curling iron, use gel. If you want wavy hair, have her sleep in braids but, when you get to the end of the braid, loop it back in the pony so it has a curved end.
For great tight ringlet curls, go to Sally and get curl formers. Use gel on wet hair and string the hair through the formers either the night before or a couple hours before she needs to be ready. Use the hair dryer to fully dry hair because the hair needs to be dry before removing.

If you want to do an updo, I like a reverse french braid...when you start at the neck and work your way towards the front but stop when you get to a high pony tail and use the rest of the hair for a bun.

Look up "sock bun" online. If you put her hair in a sock bun and let her sleep in it, she will wake up to beautiful curls the next day. My hair is long and stick straight. When I do this, my curls will last all day.
