My daughter is turing 2 and I need ideas on how to celebrate, it will just be her and the adults since there are really no kids in the picture, so I have no idea how we should celebrate. Any ideas ladies?
I suggest Chuck E Cheese-not a big party package but bring in your own cake and decorations/ballons and take up some booths. I see people do it all the time, it's allowed. You can sign up on their website for some coupons to cut the cost on food and coins.
My son turned two in May, and, although he was having a party on the weekend, we wanted to celebrate his actual birthday, so we took him to the Imagine It Children's Museum in Atlanta. (It is near Centennial Park and the Aquarium.) He LOVED it. He had a ball playing with and touching everything. We had fun watching him interact and have such a blast. (Since this wasn't his birthday party day, we just did cupcakes at home that night.) It depends on the price point you are looking for and how many people might be going. (It was just my husband, son and me, so it wasn't too bad.) They were also offering a deal where it was free on the second Tuesday of every month from 1-7 p.m., but I am not sure if that is still going on. On the free days it is crowded and you might have to wait in line, so I would suggest going a little later in the afternoon (we have gone between 4:00 and 5:00 before, and it wasn't too terrible.) When my daughter turned 2 we got her a "Happy Birthday" princess crown and took her to the Aquarium. Everyone would stop to wish her happy birthday. It was fun for all of us. We got a Little Mermaid cake from Publix too. That's all she needed and she was happy.
Does she go to any type of preschool or daycare? Church Sunday School? I'm asking because you could invite kids from one of those places if so and you want to have a traditional birthday party. If not, take her somewhere special to play like The Imagine It Children's Museum downtown or the zoo if you don't go there a lot. You could take a birthday cake or cupcakes and special plates and napkins to the zoo and have a picnic -or go have a picnic in Grant Park after the zoo (I live down the street and am very familiar with doing this -it's lots of fun)! At her age -do something special and age-appropriate, have some cake and maybe ice cream and take a lot of pictures. That will be special for her now and great pictures for her later in life.
We took our daughter to Build-a-Bear when she was two and let her pick out a bear and a few clothes. She had a ball! We celebrated at home with cake, ice cream, family, and friends.
At 2 it doesn't take much to make them happy and they really don't get the whole concept of a birthday yet. So let her wear her favorite playdress/princess dress, put on music she and the adults in her life would enjoy dancing to and don't fret- just enjoy the time together. Toddlers love hide and seek, so maybe you could hide her favorite animal/doll somewhere around the party area with something special attached to it for her. She might giggle seeing "grandma" or someone doing something silly- maybe a pass the hat game like hot potato set to music. She'll love the cake- pick her favorite character, and opening gifts will be exciting. Don't forget the balloons! I still have the image in my head of my little girl running around her 2nd birthday celebration with the balloon bouquet in her hand! Her cake was even Elmo "holding" 2 balloon/round cakes. Enjoy!
We took our son, with just our family, to Chuck E Cheese for his 2nd birthday instead of a party and he loved it! You can go to their website and register your child's birthday and get coupons, so it is really inexpensive also.I think it cost us about twenty dollars to feed all four of us and it came with tokens. Also, our son got a coupon for some free tokens. You can take a cake with you if you want, or do that at home like we did. Have fun!
