Hello,

I was wondering what recommendations you have for either in-home Childcare or Day Care centers for an infant in the Chicago area.

What can I do next?

Hi A. congrats on your first baby!

I'm due with my second child (first, Benecio is 5 years old) in August. I would be more than happy to care for your baby. In my home of course. I'm don't run a in home daycare center just a pregnant secretary hoping to be a stay at home mom.

Personally I felt not put my son in daycare/preschool until he could fully use the toilet by him self, and talk. Just in case anything happened. You never know, unfortunately. Good Luck either way!

Hi A.,

congratulations!. I am not sure which specific area in chicago are you looking for or your expenses, but I know for a fact that Bright beginnings on Delaware st is very good (but expensive). Also there is a good source in
http://www.actforchildren.org/
they can give you a list of daycares in your area and figure out your best options.
Bear in mind that depending on the area and the daycare waiting lists are usually long, so you might want to sign up as soon as possible. If you can do it I would chose in-home. However, you can probably find a daycare closer to work which is convenient if you plan to breasfeed. Also, you might want to contact people with kids at work, they are usually a good source of information.

I hope these tips help

Good Luck

If you work near the loop, I've heard that Downtown Children's Learning Place is excellent. http://www.childrenslearningplace.com/

In my opinion, really good infant day care is so so hard to come by.... we never did find a place we were completely happy with for our son :(

I don't know what area you are in but if you are in the city, The Rainforest on State street is wonderful. They accept 6 weeks+. Congrats of your baby!!!!
