Dental Abnormality?

Baby teeth usually are less crowded so there will be enough room for the second set of permanent teeth. If it really bothers you, I suggest you to find a pediatic dentist so you can have a peace of mind. Good luck.

My daughter's fangs came in before the top two middle, but the middle ones broke through within the next couple of weeks. As long as teeth come in, they don't really have to come in any particular order.

If you are concerned, you might want to call a pediatric dentist. I found a really wonderful one, Dr. Joshua Solomon, in Livermore that helped me a ton when my 6-month old had problems when her first two teeth came in. If Livermore is too far for you to go, give him a call and ask if he can refer you to anyone in your area.

My twins are 8 and the same thing happened with one of them. We used to call him fang boy... especially because it was right around Halloween. His teeth are fine now. Its really not a big deal. The pediatric dentist would most likely want to check to see if the middle teeth are there or not. ( I think it's pretty safe to assume they are)

This exact thing happened to my daughter and she's 6 now sporting a full mouth of baby teeth!!! Like everything else, each child will develop in their own time and way. I'd give it a few more teeth and then maybe check in with a pediatric dentist.

My Grandbaby just teethed in the same manner, then got one front upper tooth and it took forever for the second to appear...I think teeth come in the order they want to..."however, the "normal" way is stated in the books"

I do not believe this has any longterm affect on the teeth, and as a mother of five I know that even if they have beautiful straight baby teeth...it is no indication if they will need braces later...permanate teeth have a mind of their own also...

Hi, NO u shouldnt worry. My lil girl had her first one was one of the side ones u are talking about then the other side then her two bottom ones then a month later a week apart the two in the middle and Now she broke through both of her top molars and her 3 one on bottom. And no dosnent matter just they are healthy breaking teeth. Every child is differnt. That happened to my son. He's 22 months old and has all his teeth in now, but they didn't come in the typical order. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

It doesn't matter what order they come in. Some will come in sideways. That will freak you out. Or a tooth will come in WAAAAY behind the other teeth. Another freak out. But, as soon as there is room, the teeth shift into place. It is amazing.

While I it's not necessarily typical, it's certainly normal :-) Just like there can be a wide range in the timing of teeth in a child's development(my son had the teeth you're describing at 6 months and all 20 baby teeth at 15 months), there can be some variation in the order of teeth as well.

The most important thing is that the teeth he gets (in whatever order he gets them) are strong and healthy. Brush them well and make an appointment at the dentist now that he's one.

LOL!! I'm a mother of 3, grandmother of 3 --- have watched countless babies grow up, and until our first grandson got his vampire teeth first, had NEVER seen that in any baby! My daughter was (understandably) worried that he'd never get the middle teeth and I, unfortunately, couldn't assure her that he WOULD, since I'd never seen it happen before. However he DID get his middle teeth eventually and the others followed in a "normal" fashion. The only other "weird" tooth thing I had seen was my own daughter, who grew 2 permanent incisors on one side, and one on the other. Her orthodontist waited for both to come in so he could keep the "prettier" tooth to straighten with the rest of them. :)

Like the other moms have said, this is nothing to worry about! My older daughter grew ONE of her top teeth in (at a year old), and we waited for months for any of her other teeth to grow in. She looked like a little snaggle-toothed Jack-o-Lantern! She's now 6 and has baby teeth falling out, with beautiful, healthy adult teeth growing in in exactly the order they're supposed to. I figure, all's well that ends well! =)

I wouldn't consider it an abnormality. Every baby is different. Some people say things and some take it as GOLD, but on a topic like this, every baby is different. My son (13mos) started teething @ 6 mos and he got 8 teeth, @ one time (4top/4bottom). Now his molars are coming in and instead of 2, there are 4. Either way, just be patient with your love. Once he realizes they're in there- LOOK OUT (LOL). I don't think the order matters. If you gently press, you might be able to feel the fronts waiting in the wings.

There is a lot of normal variation in the order of tooth eruption (coming in), and it is very rare for children to have congenitally missing baby teeth. The USUAL pattern is for the two middle teeth on the top to be next after the two bottom middle teeth, but it is perfectly OK for the two teeth on either side to come in before the middle ones. The center teeth will probably follow the ones on either side within a few months. Baby teeth are usually widely spaced compared to adult teeth, so there should be adequate room for the center teeth to come in when they are "good and ready"! Hi there,
My niece's teeth came in just the way you described - the two next to the middle teeth first, then the middle ones (on top). We loved her "hippo teeth." All of her teeth have now come in (she is 19 months) and my sister and brother-in-law were told there was nothing to worry about. I have heard several different stories of teeth not coming in in the order they generally do. I don't think you have to worry.

My nephew got his teeth in the exact same way, just in time for Halloween, so my sister dressed him up as a miniature Dracula!

Everything in the book is guidelines and most kids follow them, but there are always kids that don't fall in the norms. My son followed the teething guidelines to the letter. My daughter didn't get her first tooth until 14 months of age!
