Dentist for Anxiety Patients in Plano

I have very bad anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. Bad experiences in my childhood.
I know I have to go here soon, but have yet to find a great dentist who will maybe even help me overcome my fears.
Thanks.

Adding: I'm not scared of the shots. I'm terrified of the drilling sounds and the feeling of it, the scraping of the enamel, when the drill hits a nerve, all of that.

What can I do next?

My dentist in in Dallas - but I had very similar fears to you - and also had HORRIBLE childhood experiences. I started going to Dr. Miranda (at Travis Walk Dental) about 10 years ago - and he has gotten me past all my fears. He offers nitrous oxide, and will do sedation dentistry so you don't have to hear the noises, smell the smells, etc. I can now even have dental work done without sedation - because I trust him completely and know that he won't do anything to hurt me. He even called me personally before I went in the first time to see what he could do to make me more comfortable.
www.rusmiling.com - check him out - I now live in Plano but still drive down to see him - it is worth the drive!

HI S.,
I use to have dental anxieties because of my past experiences, until I went to Mckinney Dentist a few years ago and they used NItrous Oxide on me. I am amazed how the Nitrous worked on me! I felt so relaxed and not afraid at all. I use to be very fearful of the shots given for numbing and with the nitrous, the shots do not hurt and I hardly feel them at all. Now I don't mind going to the dentist at all===really. I hope this might help you. I wish you the best.

My dentist isn't in Plano, but have you thought about explaining the situation to your family doctor and seeing if they would prescribe an anxiety med like Xanxex or something for the Dental visit? We have to do that for my daughter. She's petrified. The gas should help too if you don't normally get it.

Dr. Grattifiori will take care of you. I was referred to him by a friend due to a bad experience with a previous dentist. He has returned me to being a normal patient with his approach and expertise.
