Dentist Making Face Numb

Ok ladies has anyone else had complications from the dentist? I went a few months ago and I've noticed that ever since then I experience random numbing mostly in the site where the shot was giving but sometimes it radiates beyond to the jaw. It's not extreme numbing just kind of an odd sensation. Could they have hit a nerve or something while drilling or with the shot?

What can I do next?

It's always a good idea to talk to the dentist about it. While they know the anatomy, everyone is a bit different so sometimes it's impossible to miss the nerve. Call and talk to the dentist that did the procedure. He/she may bring you in for an exam to rule out anything new.

It's totally possible. If a nerve was nicked it could heal within days, weeks, months. It depends on the nerve and just can't be predicted. I have some nerve damage from a nick my back took during my first epidural over ten years ago. It shows up as a shooting, debilitating momentary pain across my back once a year or so, just enough to let me know it's still there. I spoke with the anesthesiologist who did my epidural and he said that sometimes, it just happens. Nerves are tricky and can regenerate when you don't expect them to and sometimes they take longer than expected.

If you notice loss of function that's a problem. In any case I'd call your dentist if you're worried.

Sure - my friend has a numb spot on her chin from a root canal done by a total hack.

Have you spoken to the dentist about it. If not, give a call.

Even the best dentist will hit a nerve from time to time. It's impossible to know where each person's nerves are actually located. The dentist knows their approximate stated location but a person's nerve may actually be somewhere else.

A damaged nerve usually heals within a few days/weeks. I suggest that you talk with the dentist about this.
