Devise to Hold Foot in Place on a Bike Pedal

There are two such devices I've ever seen - the one you are probably referring to is a sort of leather "cage" that can be installed on the pedal to hold the toe part of the shoe onto the bike. This way he can wear any shoes he wants to, just by sliding them into the straps/clips.

I just searched bike toe clips. If I were you, I'd go to any bike shop and ask for what you're looking for, at least the first time so they can give you some advice.

The other style I've seen are for the more "professional" bike riders. They are actually pedals and shoes that clip together - the rider snaps the shoes onto the pedals so that their feet don't come off and they can really pull up and down and use their strength for long rides.

I also suggest going to a bike shop for some advice. The bike pedal clips used to be standard and found everywhere. I guess since not many people use them, you have to search. A bike shop could provide info to make sure you get the right size and type.

The Easter Seals has a bike riding class, so maybe they can make some recommendations. I would give them a call and tell them what you are looking for. They can probably give you the "official" name of what it is so if you need to call around, you know what to ask for.

When my husband bought my grandson his first bike he could not reach the pedals. He cut blocks from a 2 x 4 piece of lumber which he duct taped to both sides of the pedal and my grandson was able to reach the pedals to ride the bike. It isn't the most attractive fix, but if that is the problem he will eventually grow tall enough that you can take the blocks off.

I would check out any bike shop. We bought our daughter's first bike from a bike shop and they had all type of accessories.

I would ask the occupational therapist...call their office. There are also catalogs like SuperDuper Publications...they have lots of different things like that.
