I am looking for a durable diaper bag for a newborn and a 2.5 year old. I need it to be gender neutral and something that both my husband and I can use. I'm plus sized, so backpacks don't typically work for me. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!

Thirty-one gifts offers all kinds of cute bags and totes. They can be personalized as well. Check out the link below and view the catalog online. There is a Core catalog as well as 31 kid (kid and baby) and Direction (geared towards teens). Let me know if you like what you see!

I also recommend the Skip Hop brand if you are looking for something gender neutral that you & your husband will both feel OK using. Good luck!

I also really like the Skip Hop brand. My SIL uses a Diaper Dude, I think, which is a messanger bag. I think that you should look at non-diaper bags - like LL Bean, they sell a lot of good stuff.

We had good luck with a Diaper Bag we had gotten when our daughter was born 2 years ago from Pottery Barn Kids. It was about $70 (Ultimate Diaper Bag), but has held up VERY well for almost 2 years.

We chose it because we could put 2 sizes of diapers in it, 2 different bottles/sippy cups, etc.

We just retired it yesterday when a smaller one arrived from LL Bean.

I have a graco diaper bag , nothing fancy and cost around $25 , it has 2 bottle/cup compartments , diaper & wipes section plus a main area that has see through/zipper closing mini bags inside that are held in place with velcro. I don't like back pack types either so went for one that I could put over the stroller handles (making strap as short as possible) or over my shoulder.

Good luck with your new addition.

I would suggest either a messenger or tote style bags. Black and tan are pretty gender neutral. Best of luck.

I use the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe Double Diaper Bag - Uptown Stripe . (Comes in all kinds of other colors too) You can check it out at

Its a bit pricey but after buy 3 different cheapo bags that I didn't like, I bit bullet and got this one---should have done that first! Its great for multiple kids (I have 3). It has a long should strap as well as end straps to hook onto a stroller. 3 front shallow pockets and 2 deep back pockets. A zipper inside as well as mesh pockets inside. It also has two end mesh pockets.

I am not the most organized person so this is great for me b/c I can have snack in one pocket, wipes/hand sanitizer etc in another, plus I always know where my keys & wallet are without having to dig through the entire bag.

The only draw back is that it doesn't have a solid base so it tends to tip...I resolved this by cutting a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom, covered it with fabric and it doesnt tip anymore.

Again its a bit pricey but like I said---bought 3 bags in the course of 1 year, bought this one 3 years ago and have looked back since.

Hope this helps.
