Miracle booty cream: 1 tube of Desitin Creamy, one tube of triple antibiotic, one tube of micronazole.
Mix well and put in a big, sterilized babyfood jar. Apply liberally after each diaper change to maintain a protective barrier on the skin.
My daughter is on an anti-biotic for the wonderful cold/flu crud that has been going around. However, in trying to fix one problem, it's creating another: diarrhea, which has led to horrible diaper rash. Any good suggestions for clearing the rash up?

Calmoseptine- it's a big white tube with green letters. It's available behind the counter at the pharmacy you just have to ask for it. It works great!
I don't have a suggestion for a good cream (esp since mamas vary so widely on what they will/won't put on their baby), but it always helped our girls when we washed them with warm water and pat dry after diaper changes. Try to avoid wipes (or at least, rinse them out first) since they can aggravate diaper rash.
This is going to sound strange. My baby had the same thing from antibiotic. It was like a yeast infection. Use Coconut Oil. You can get the non-organic stuff at the store (its unscented). Works awesome. WIsh I had known sooner. We have spent lots on prescription cream and this worked great. You find it at the cooking section of the grocery store by Olive Oil. Its a solid and once it reaches your hands, it turns to oil. Works also on chapped hands! You can google uses for Coconut Oil and it gives you a slew of things its good for.
give her some probiotics for the diarrhea. every time my son used to go on antibiotics, he'd get diarrhea and then diaper rash. after i tried the probiotics, i was amazed! now i administer it whenever he needs to go on antibiotics for anything and he doesn't get diarrhea.
for the rash, don't use desitin as it stings. use triple paste cream and/or aquaphor. air it out as much as possible. if it's really bad, you can also sprinkle corn starch on top of the triple paste to really create a physical barrier.
good luck!
My daughter, due to lactose intolerance (which went undiagnosed for a long time), other food issues, and severe constipation, has struggled with some of the worst diaper rash you've ever seen...like, burnt skin (from lactose), fissues (from constipation), infection (from fissures) and more. Pobrecita!
Anyhow, I tried everything the doctor gave me...antibacterial creams, vanicream, triple paste, etc...none of it worked. I tried every home remedy, none of it worked.
What actually works is Boudreax's Butt Paste...the Maximum Strength, in a red tube. It's got something like 45% whatever that other creams have 10% of. It is very thick, smells weird, but it works.
And do NOT be tempted to buy the "all natural" version, because for some CRAZY reason it has acid in it...and I think it's citric acid, to boot. Really? All natural or not, the last thing a baby's butt needs is freaking acid. Yeesh.
Good luck!
if it's so bad that it's almost breaking skin use Lotrimin. It's expensive but it will really help a ton. It's for athlete's foot but works amazing for very advanced diaper rashes. My doctor recommended it and it worked for our worst of worst rashes. Almost everything we tried would "soothe" but not heal. This did the trick!
