Diaper Rash - Woodridge,IL

Could it be the change in diapers? I know that happend to my son once. My oldest had a rash once that was so bad he was bleeding! Took him to the doctor and they told me to use milk of magnesia (sp?) and aquafor, either dab it with a cotton ball or you can mix them both together and put it on like a cream. I love triple paste, however I've also noticed that butt paste sometimes helps. After she is done with her bath keep here bottom out to air dry ( I let my kids go around being naked for a bit) Also they say when they have irritation to limit wipe use. So when it was bad for my kids I wouldnt use wipes for pee and wet paper towel for poop. What kind of wipes are you using? Are you using wipes at all?

After each bowel movement clean her with soap and water. I cut up some microfiber towels and keep them in a soap/water solution so they're easy to use.

Only soap will remove the bacteria and fungus from BMs. Wipes won't do it, and obviously, water won't do it.

My daughter has always had very sensitive skin and if we miss even one BM (no soap) she WILL end up with a rash.

Also, I found Calmoseptine. Some pharmacies carry it behind the counter. Walgreens typically has it in the adult incontinence section. It has a high zinc oxizide percent and also has soothing elements. Best cream I've found.

My ped always says to just cover her diaper area in a barrier cream (like Desitin - her rec. - I still like Calmoseptine) after each change - SLATHER it on, she says. You've got to keep the BM and urine off the already irritated areas.

Desitin Cream was my go-to.

But I have hear several folks who swear by (and yes, I know this is weird)...Crisco. Diaper rash is caused by moisture...and Crisco is an excellent moisture barrier.

I use the target brand wipes for breastfed babies. You can also use the Lansinoh ones (found in the breastfeeding isle). I got the "secret" from a friend who didn't even breastfeed any of her 7 kids. She also suggested the German cream Bayer Bepanthen Ointment. (she got me each for my baby shower, now i purchase it at Amazon.com). Both my daughters have sensitive skin, and we have had very few issues!!! If there was a rash starting, we'd gob on the ointment, and it cleared up right away!!! I think I found a great combo for us, hope it can help you!!!!

I crust. I smear desitin everywhere, and pat on baby powder. It makes a "crust" for extra protection on sensitive skin...

When my son was 17 mos old he had the worst rash ever. I think we went thru 15 diff't ointments/ creams/ prescriptions. I finally bought the original desitin (purple tube) and layered it on. His 3 month long blistered, broken skinned rash finally went away. That desitin formula has the highest percentage of zinc oxide at 40%.

My daughter had that, caused mostly by dairy, strawberries, and orange juice.

I suggest that the gauze will cause more chafing than the diaper. Gauze is rough. And the gauze will hold the urine to her while the diaper wicks it away.

It's been a while since I have been there. But the only thing I could use on my son (now 11) was cornstarch. Worth a try. It is natural and cheap. This is all I ever used on my daughter, now 5.

Try Pink Sav. My kids have sensitive bums and that always works for us! good luck! With my dd (she is still small) we use Pampers Sensitive for more protection they go up to size 4.
