J.G.
I used Walgreen's Zinc Oxide. A pharmasict one told me about it. It's cheap and would work wonders.
Does anyone have a good remedy for bad diaper rash? My poor 16 month old has very sensative skin and get diarrhea frequently (he has been this way his entire life...at least he's not constipated)!!I change his diapers immediately and have used Butt Paste, powder, oatmeal bath soaks, changed diaper brands, ect. Is there a prescription I could ask my doctor for?
Thanks for your help

I have found that nothing works as well as good ol' Desitin. Your doc may have an Rx for something, though, so ask. My son gets eczema on his butt-- if your son actually has that instead of diaper rash, allergy medicines should help. Give him the recommended dosage for his age/weight for Benedryl one night before bed and if there is a difference in the morning, you know it's an allergy and your doc can give you a plan of action with over the counter meds, or prescribe something
Hi J., first you need to find out what is giving your son the diarrhea. Does he have a milk allergy? Are you feeding him spicy foods? Check with the pediatrician, if you find no answers there, you should see a specialist, possible a dermatologist for the skin problem. In the meantime, first and foremost, make sure he is getting enough water, to prevent dehydration, and for the sore bottom, make sure you are not bathing him in water that is too warm, that dries out the skin, and for the rash, try Balmex, or A+D Ointment, which you probably tried already!! It will be very difficult to cure the rash, until you find out what is causing the diarrhea, but pack on that Balmex, because that stuff really works well!! I hope I could help you.
Hi J.:
My baby got a really bad diaper rash when she got a stomach virus for new years and her doctor prescribed NYSTATIN cream twice a day for a week plus on top of that use your regular diaper rash cream...alot of it. It helped eliminate the rash. On a regular basis I like to use Desitin Original (white container with purple letters) because it's thick and lasts longer. She hasn't gotten a rash that bad since. But most importantly you need to find out what's ausing his diarreah. It could be an allergy to something he is eating, check with his doctor because it can become seriousif he dehydrates. I hope it helps out.
