I had good luck with LUVS, but they are made by the same company as Pampers...so you may have the same problems.
Huggies never worked for my kids body...but the Target brand was okay.
Hi there!
With the recent change to the Pampers Cruisers and Swaddlers my son has been experiencing the rash or as it is now referred to as "chemical burns" on his bottom. It is definetly different than a rash. My son has been wearing swaddlers then cruisers his whole life (he will be 3 in July) and has had no problems and only 2 mild rashes but with the recent switch he has been screaming in pain with his diaper changes. I have switched him currently to the Target brand and so far so good (its only been two days).
So my question - what brands outside of Pampers do you like and why? I need to switch my newborn today out of the swaddlers. Im so bummed because I love how the swaddlers pull the mess away from my babys bottom, and they never leak but I am hoping there is another brand out there that will work for us. I cant do the cloth diapers. So has anyone used the target brand? Huggies? Luvs? ect? Any good or bad to report?
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

I've used luvs for all 3 of my little ones. I have always really liked them and I think they are cheaper than some of the others. The only thing with luvs is they don't come in the smaller sizes. The lowest size I've seen is 3. I've always used swaddlers before that, so I can't help you much there.
I used Pampers exclusively for my son (who is now 4) and also did for my daughter until she was about 10 months old. On a whim, I bought a box of Target brand for her and LOVE them. They have not leaked a single time. And at $13 a box vs. $19 for Pampers, I'm loving the savings. I just wish I had made the switch earlier!!
My son was allergic to the chemical they add to Pampers to make that wonderful baby-power scent. I use Kirkland diapers from Costco during the day. These are manufactured by Huggies -- and are the exact same diaper as the Huggies Supreme (which has much nice elastic waist than the basic Huggies). At night, I use Huggies Overnights.
I think you can find cheaper diapers than the Kirkland, but I prefer to spend a couple extra pennies per diaper to have the highest quality and eliminate leaks and blow-outs.
I'm a cloth mama (can't tell you how glad I am I made the switch when my daughter was 4 months old!) but when I have to use disposables (travel, etc) I use Luvs. Huggies never, ever fit my kids right. I really depends on the shape of your little ones. You may have to just test drive a couple different types to see what works best for you guys.
i like huggies snug and dry or huggies newborn but are a little small
I use cloth and Target brand. Prefer cloth due to rash issuses with disposable. Sitter says Target ones are great. And cheap
Cloth is better for everyone involved. No nasty chemicals, saves you loads of $$$ and better for the environment. They're so much easier tou se than most people think too.
I have always used Luvs when they are little. They are great diapers and the only time I've had issues with leaking was when they were over full and my own fault for not checking (usually this is overnight). The Pampers Baby Dry really are almost as good at the Cruisers and they did not change anything about them (they do not have the Dry Max stuff). I usually switched to the cruisers when they get older cause they fit better. Also a couple of times my older son ended up in the Costco diapers at daycare when they got the diapers mixed up and they were really awesome...I don't have a membership or I would probably buy those.
Huggies have never fit my kids right so I stopped trying them.
We've tried just about everything and stick primarily with Huggies because it's worked well for our kids, and we can get them at Costco/Sams Club for the exact same price as their generic brands (we're convinced Kirkland Diapers are Huggies).
Both of our kids were prone to blow-outs as babies, we we stuck with diapers that had the elastic on the back.
We liked the Target brand, Pampers Baby Dry (I've always hated Cruisers) and Luvs, but when we tried Luvs recently, they weren't as good as we remembered.
As newborns, we loved Huggies Premium. We also used all the above on our children from an early age, and had few (if any) issues.
I used the Huggies Newborn, size 1 diapers when my son was tiny. For a while I used the Kirkland brand (costco) diapers (which were pretty good). Lately, I have been used the Pampers Baby Dry. Like Andrea mentioned, they don't use the same stuff as they do with the Crusiers, etc. My son has always had a really sensitive bottom, and he hasn't had any problems with the Pampers Baby Dry.
Kirkland, from Costco are the best diapers! We have tried all of them and these are the ultimate best!!
We use Luvs and Love them!
LUVS smell funny. I used Huggies, Pampers and Target brand interchangeably depending on coupons and sales. Now I just use Target brand and I haven't had any leakage - except at night - when I use Huggies overnights.
I've actually did switch to cloth once I found out about Pampers causing chemical burns. My daughter did up with a blood blister on her tush :(
Aside from full cloth diapers though, you may want to look into the GroVia diaper line. They have all disposable biodegradeable liners that go into covers that can be washed in regular detergent. It is a great diaper that takes minimal effort to use.
I was also told that GroVia in in the process of making a fully biodegradeable disposable diaper like Huggies, Luvs, etc. That will be wonderful since typical disposables take 500 years to break down (and were only introduced 40 years ago!)
If you are not open to those options, your next best bet would be a chlorine free diaper. Seventh Generation and Huggies Pure & Natural are examples.
Good luck finding one you love!
I use Sam's Club brand during the day, and Huggies Overnights for my excessive pee little man at night.
I really like Luvs for daytime use. They didn't work as great for overnights..had some leaking issues. I use Huggies Overnights for that. But the Luvs are cheaper so we always use those for day time. Never had a diaper rash problem.
We have been using Target brand diapers ever since my daughter was an infant. I find they work just fine.
I bought Huggies once, when they were on sale and really did not like them.
I don't buy LUVS because they are so heavily scented and I really don't need that.
I have also tried and liked Safeway Mom to Mom diapers (their store brand) and like those, but we prefer Target, which are cheaper, too.
I really never felt the need to buy brand name diapers... I think they are just all hype.
Good luck.
I'm a loyal evangelist of Huggies Snug N Dry!
Every other diaper I've tried has leaked. I did use Target's for awhile, but they didn't seem to last nearly as long as a Huggies, so I was going through them twice as fast, negating the cost savings.
I really like the Huggies Supreme. I always used the Swaddlers too.. and wished they made the Swaddlers larger then the size "2-3".. Huggies have a cheap version of their diapers, the Supremes are much different.
You also might try some experiements with store brand diapers. Now that our kids are getting older I just buy the Kroger brand diapers. I tried about 7 different store brands and I liked them the most. I don't have a Costco/Sam's membership, so I can't speak to that.
Good luck.
We love the Pure and Natural Huggies diapers. My daughter always had diaper rash until we used these!! Good luck!
I have been using the Fisher Price brand diapers because I get coupons for them from Babies R Us/Toys R Us. These diapers are great. They are a thicker diaper than the Pampers or Huggies brands and they are cheaper too. My little guy is a power pee'er, so these work very well. The only problem is I can't find any other store that carries this brand expect Toys/Babies R Us.

We use Huggies and Costco's Kirkland brand diaper. The Kirkland diaper IS a Huggie Supreme, manufactured by the same manufacturer as Huggies. They are pretty much the same price - like 1 cent cheaper per diaper for generic. I switch depending on which one I have a coupon for.
My friend raves about Target brand (I wasn't too keen) and my sister-in-law uses Jewel brand. It all comes down to your child.
Good luck. If you are a member of Costco, you can go online and request a free sample of their diaper and they will send you 2 in the mail.
I hated the crinkly feel of the Luvs diapers, and always used Huggies. They always have great coupons out and Kroger always has them on sale. The supremes are the best, but are more costly, and the baby dry have always worked for us.
Pampers told me that Swaddlers DO NOT have the new Dry Max technology. Nor do their Baby Dry brand. I complained to them about the new diapers because they leak. Both of my kids had a rash but I did not connect the two things until I heard about it on the news. Huggies work well as do the Target brand of diapers. The Baby Dry by Pampers are so-so. You have to be really vigilant or they will leak.
