CONGRATULATIONS on the new baby!~ A good thing to do would be to see a nutrionist so you can discuss your eating habits, get valuable information, and have them set you up on a plan that is catered to your needs and your body. But, if you don't want to go see a nutrionist then I would suggest eating b/t 1800-2000 calories a day. Drink about a gallon of water a day, take a multivitamin, eat 6 small meals a day (you should be eating every 3 hours as this helps to jump start your metabolism), and work out 30minutes to an hour 5-7 times a week. Try a low carb/high protein diet and remember to include lots of leafy green foods and fresh fruits. Also cutting back on sugary drinks makes a big difference too.

When exercising don't get stuck doing the same thing every day otherwise you're gonna get tired of it really quickly. Alternate from cardio to weight training (strengthening your muscles and toning your body). Hopefully this helps you as much as it has helped me (I'm at a weightloss of 62lbs and counting!~). Good luck!~

I went through the same thing after I had my daughter. I have successfully lost the baby weight FINALLY. This is what worked for me.

Everyone is different. I tried Weight watchers and was very strict on the points, and walked for exercise. I didn't lose hardly anything. Finally I broke down and talked to one of my friends who is a personal trainer. She told me she only eats Whole Wheat carbohydrates. That means 100% Whole Wheat. She eats potatoes in moderation, but breads, pastas, etc. is 100% Whole Wheat products. She cut pork out of her diet and eats lean meats with fresh veggies. Of course, she exercises. Once I cut processed breads and replaced them with 100% whole wheat, the weight came off. Now be careful. Now some products are fake. If it doesn't say 100% whole wheat in the name, or if the 1st ingredient on the back doesn't say Whole wheat as the first two words (with the exception of oat bran, which is a form of whole wheat), it is not a "real" whole wheat product. It isn't much better than eating enriched flour. I am not as strict as my friend is on my diet, and I still went back to my pre-baby weight in no time. I was so thankful to her, because I was so frustrated.

Also, make sure you drink 8 glasses of water a day, and do some type of workout everyday. Sometimes when I don't feel like going to the gym, I pop in a workout DVD. I try to do something everyday. I do enjoy pilates/yoga type workouts too. It has also changed my body in a good way. I had to do a lifestyle change vs. temporary diet. With a lifestyle change, you can still allow yourself a treat every once in a while vs being on a strict diet for so long that you wind up eating 500 cheeseburgers in a mental breakdown! LOL! Be patient, the weight will come off. I have been there and I know how you feel. :)

Eat plenty of fruits and veggetables. lay off the pasta, breads and sweets to once a week. No meats except fish, chicken and turkey. no fried foods. drink plenty, plenty of water Exercise a min of 3 times a week for 45 minutes. Walking is a great and inexpensive way to loose weight. Hold your stomach in and breath in plenty of oxygen for every 5 - 10 minutes. only weigh yourself once a week and on the same day each week.

Watching what you eat and exercising is the best bet. I've also found that Weight Watchers is the best program out there, though it gets expensive. If you do some searching online, you can find all of the information to do their points system without having to pay. The support from other dieters is what really helps most by going to WW meetings, rather than doing it on your own. However, if you can find some friends to diet together, or if you join a mom's group, you are sure to find several other moms willing and ready to be a support system while you diet.

Good luck, and congrats on the new baby!

The person that told you that lifting weights for weight loss is absolutely correct! Think of it like this...

When you lift weights you are breaking down the muscle that you are working. That muscle can take more than 24hrs to rebuild itself. Rebuilding the muscle uses calories. The end result is that your body is burning calories while your not even working out. Dont beat yourself up doing cardio. Cardio is important but it should not be the bulk of your workout.
It's a great idea to warm up with about 5 mins of cardio (break a sweat) Stretch, lift weights, then finish up with as much cardio as you want to do. You can start with only 5 to 10 mins if thats all you can stand. It would be best to do at least 20 mins. When lifting weights dont work the same muscle groups every day. The muscle needs time to repair itself. Do upper body one day and lower body the next. If you only want to workout every other day do total body weights and skip the gym the next day.

Lifting weights for fat loss is different than lifting for muscle building.

Fat Loss Lifting:
Lower weight, Higher Reps
Try to start with 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. The muscle should n't be burning until the 8th or 9th rep of each set. If it burns before that lower your weight a little. You can always go up later!

Muscle building:
Higher weight, Lower reps
example would be 2 sets of only 8-10 reps. The muscle should be buring by the 5th or 6th rep.

Hope this makes since and helps!

You didn't share what you have tried, what your habits are or how much you want to lose. Remember that diet is only part of the equation, exercise should also be part of your routine. Weight lifting is very good for weight loss, it helps you to burn more calories and become more toned.

Last year in addition to adding workouts to lose weight and tone up, I also started on a weight loss product that aided me to get the weight coming off. My weight loss story is at http://www.reducemyweightnow.com - I have included a few pictures to document for myself and other people. People who have met me recently can't believe I was that much bigger a year ago, but it is true.

I am still a work in progress too, it's just nice to have something that helps boost your energy and help your body burn fat, at least for me.

I understand! My son is 6 years old now, and it never ceases to amaze me how much our bodies change! I am in Weight Watchers myself, which has been wonderful. However, there are 15 pounds that have just stuck around since I had my son--no matter what I ate or didn't eat!

I will tell you that I'm in a home based business that sincerely has the best program out there I know of. It is new and sooo exciting. The stories from people on it are incredible! Since I've been on it (3 weeks), I have lost 5 pounds. It consists of a shake--as 1 meal replacement a day as well as weight loss accelerator capsules before meals that naturally suppresses appetite, increase metabolism, and helps burn fat and store less of it. It prevents the yo-yo dieting effect.

This is just what I have found to work. I honestly know you'll be amazed. The company also guarentees its' products with a 30-day money back guarantee--no questions asked. That's how good these are.

If you're interested, I'd love to share more. Just let me know!

No matter what you decide--I wish you the best of luck. And enjoy that baby :) They grow up too fast!
