Hello,
I've tried every diet known to man...can't stick to it, can't lose weight. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any luck with diet pills. I am going to purchase some to try and was wondering what other folks have tried that has worked. I know some will say "simple diet and exercise" but for me, it's beyond that. I need to try to get this under control before having to resort to bypass surgery.

Any thing worked for you?

Thanks~

Hi, L.,

Based on what I've read about diet pills, I don't think that any is a "magic bullet." Each type seems to have adverse side effects or is ineffective. I would rather invest the money in hiring a professional team (nutritionist, a physical trainer, and a psychotherapist) to help me lose weight. They've helped me.

Good luck,

Hi L.. Try the trim kit by Nutrilite. I work with a team of people where we have all tried it and there has been such a success. It costs a lot less weight watchers, Jenny, etc. Plus, its all natural which is safer. you can buy the kit or just the pills. I use them every day and I love it. I went from 200 pounds to 135 within a year or so and have kept it off. its challenging but worth it. Here are some links for you to check out.

Have you looked into doing a medical weight loss program (ie: meal replacements with supervision from an MD and registered dietitian). If you have a signifant amount of weight to lose this may help give you a 'jump start'and make you feel a little less desperate. Insurance may even cover some portion of a program like this. I know Cedars Sinai has a medical weight management program, it may be worth looking into.
Good luck!

good morning L., I feel you girl, I am using something that works. back in December I almost died, my second day in ICU they weighted me and munch to my surprise I weighted 261 lbs, I knew I was fat but didn't realalize how fat I really was. Duringthis time I was told tat I had diabtes, which I don't believe I do, but thats OK cause my husband went on line to research a natural cure for diabetes, he found a product that was discoverd in China by a Dr, Kim, it is sould in China as a cure and prevntion for diabetes, in the US it is sold as a weight loss product. I got out of the hospital on New Years day, started the product, had a Dr, appointment Jan 16th, they weighted me, the scale said 228 I'm like that can't be I asked the doctor how accurate the scales were (their digital) he said they were very active, well if that't true then I've lost 33 pounds since december 27th, he said that was normal after being in the hospital, well to make a log story short I ended back in the hospita Jan 23rd so I was not able to take my Eleotin during that time, I got back out of the Hospital the last day of Jan and started back on the Eleotin Feb 1 since last Saturday i have taken off a total of 66 pounds with 42 to go to be at the weight I was when my husband and i got married, I've been averaging about 10 pounds a month, I have taken in all my jeans and pants like 4 and 5 times, I have clothes that i can now where that I couldn't get past my chest, didn't lose my boobs but a lot of the fat around them. I still have fat on my body at 193 pounds but I don't have the rolls I used to have, my goal is 150 im 5 feet 7 inches so 150 looks good on me, I got to tell you I hve done a 190 degree anle on my eating, I no longer eat for pleasure but for substance, don't get me wrong I enjoy my meals, but in a different way. I use to hide food in my sock drawer, even icecream bars, i would hide in the closet and eat, I had cookies, candy, and no body knew. have cut out about 20 to 22 food items, and you know what I don't miss them, it's nice to be able to walk up stairs or around the block and not get all winded, I do not exercise as far as exercise, I run a home daycare which keeps me on my feet, i have an elipticle that I go on once in a while, and I have done some walking, I dance a lot at home but thats the extent of my exersice. The product is called Eleotin, it's 3 small capsuls a day, ALL NATURAL WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS
theres an am which you take with breakfast, an afternoon which you take between lunch and dinner, I take mine at 3, then the evening is between dinner and bedtime, I take that one at nine and usually go to bed around 10:00 or a little after. It't not cheap, but it works, you can only order in on line or by phone it's not sold in stores, if you tell them that Edwin and J. Louis recomended them to you, they will give you a 30 percent discount. If you send me your e-mail address I will e-mail you the link to get you started, it's in my e-mail and I don't know it by heart, My husband is using it, not like he's supossed to, and he still lost 8 pounds the first 2 weeks, there's 2 other people that we recomended this product to and they are both having great sucess, theres so reason in the world why you would not have the same great sucess. I'll be waitng for your e-mail. J. L.

im sure you may have heard the saying, "true insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result each time."
if you want to lose weight and keep it off without killing yourself with crazy weird diets and pills and surgery, you have to CHANGE your eating/exercise habits. to CHANGE your life, you actually have to get up and do something about it.

im saying this from experience, not judgment!

eating for me was like a drug! i loved food especially baked goods and ice cream, yikes! before i had kids i had a really good metabolism and i was 5'10" and 120 lbs. i could eat anything i wanted and not worry about it. then when i got pregnant, i would gain 20 lbs in one month! a nurse yelled at me, but i ignored her. after a few pregnancies i had gained about a hundred lbs total. i tried to figure out what my body was doing and why i was gaining and not losing! so i tried working out and i slowly changed my diet.
i started by looking at the nutrition facts and ingredients before putting it in my cart! after eating things with less calories and more vitamins, and making sure they didnt have more than two ingredients i couldnt pronounce, when i tried the old stuff again it was so gross to eat! the thought of fast food or even a donut made me want to throw up. although i would on OCCASION indulge in a an all natural baked good from whole foods! the trick is starting off slowly and learning for yourself how these foods effect your own body. listen to your body and you will know!

another thing i noticed with my body is that i can only lose so much with eating healthy and portion control. i had to MOVE my big butt! ever since we moved to a non bike friendly area i have been driving a lot more, even though the grocery store is two blocks away! not only is this bad for the environment but it was bad for me!
start off slow, with things like walking somewhere close instead of driving. youtube a beginners yoga video and do it in your room. make love to your husband as much as possible! yes that counts as exercise, and its been proven to be the number one stress relief!
then eventually you can start going on walks and jogs and hikes, or whatever your favorite activity was when you were a kid. did you like swimming? biking? surfing? skating? soccer? basketball? etc... do something you find FUN!!

anyways, i dont believe in dieting or weight loss "miracles", its all a scam preying on desperation! i was desperate and looking into those sorts of things and i always had a bad feeling about them. the key is PATIENCE, its worth the wait for the good things in life, like a second chance at it.

just make sure you are not hanging out with enablers! it is seriously just like a drug or alcohol problem, if the people you hang out with love and care about you for your own health they will help you and not hinder your progress!

good luck and stay strong!
let me know if you need some support!

Don't go on a "diet" and don't take "diet anything." You have to change your lifestyle. If you really want it, you have to really try it. Start by shrinking your portions. You say that you are beyond simple diet and exercise but if you try any quick fixes, it's just that A QUICK FIX. Weight loss takes a long time. You have to be patient and look ahead at what your results will be. How much weight do you want to lose? Try a few pounds a month. The faster you take the weight off, the faster it will come right back. It's fun seeing instant results but if you don't change the way you eat, it will come right back. Good luck to you!!

There is a product called Core 4. It's amazing! And the point is that you don't have to change diet and exercise. (of course if you are exercising and eating better the results will be even better) There are four all natural and organic products that work together to specifically target the tummy area. Results start to happen in as little as 1 week. It's got a 100% money back guarantee. My husband needed to lose weight and this is what worked. His best friend is on it and suggested it. It has changed both their lives. : )

Work with your doctor. Diet pills are mostly stimulants (amphetamines mostly) and they NEED to be medically monitored. Stimulants are obviously addictive, and have mood and mind altering effects, and interact with other meds/herbs. There's many different kinds, and working with your doctor means that you're monitoring your health in addition to the mental/emotional side effects. All 3 of which are important.

The over the counter versions fall into a couple of categories:

- Stimulants (mostly herbal...which does NOT actually make them less powerful; remember digitalis is just the scientific name for foxglove, opium comes from poppies, etc.) Herbs are quite useful, and herbal pharmacology is fascinating, but they're also very powerful and greatly misunderstood. Since they're not classified as medicines...the FDA has no jurisdiction. Dosages vary WILDLY, as does purity, other ingredients, etc. Chinese names are another way that a corrupt industry gets around us. The chinese name for EPHEDRA stayed on the market here for several years after ephedra was pulled from the shelves and put back of the counter. Oops. Also think phen phen. You know, the one that made the news for killing people? Some of the stimulants are mild, like nicotine & caffeine, others aren't. Anyhow...since the FDA has no jurisdiction over these companies...anyone taking any of these needs to know, the technical definition for what they're doing is becoming part of an uncontrolled drug study. When enough people die, or have permanent organ damage, it gets pulled from the market. At least in a controlled drug study we lab rats get paid and guaranteed medical care for any arising problems. Over the counter-cross-your-fingers-not-technically-medicine...you're on your own. Buyer beware.

- Coagulants. These are the guys who bind fats in your diet (and anything else nearby). They make it so the fats don't digest easily... and most of these are coupled with a laxitive. A common side effect from this kind is "anal leakage". Whee. Same problem as above, in not being monitored by the FDA. Yes, the FDA has it's own problems, but at least there are some basic safety and quality standards that have to be met BEFORE something goes out on the market.

- Placebos + trace vitamins & minerals. You're better off buying vitamin packs (they cost less). A lot of overeating in this country has to do with lack of nutrients. We keep eating, because we're still HUNGRY for things missing in our diets. Yes, eating healthy all the time would be fantastic...but let's face it. It's EXPENSIVE.

Anyhow...I could stand on my soap box for awhile...but i'll hop off now. Work with your doctor, & protect your health.

The absolute BEST thing you can do for yourself is see your doctor. There is a prescription diet pill called Phentermine that he or she can prescribe and make sure you are taking it safely. Honestly the over the counter pills are not FDA approved and can be very dangerous. Also, your doctor can send you to a nutritionist who can tailor a realistic meal plan for you and give you tips. If your doctor doesn't take your weight loss seriously find another one. Please think of your family and do this the safe way. Good luck, and you should be proud of yourself for taking control of your health.

My mom and sister had gastric bypass. My mom is doing pretty good, but she had to gain 5 pounds to qualify for the surgery. My sister is doing ok, she hasn't gained all the weight back, but one thing for sure the surgery did not fix the problem. She still has serious problems with food. That is all she thinks about and she still buys like she did before even though she can't eat it all. Their surgeries were about 4 or 5 years ago. So, you are right, you should try to avoid.

I eat chines food herbs and don't crave the bad foods anymore. I don't eat out, especially fast food and don't miss it now. If you would like to learn more, let me know. It is a healthy safe way to change for the long term and helps you nourish and feed your body and it loses the cravings.

God Bless!

the best thing to do is to use portion control and watching what you eat. have meals that are enough to satisfy you not gorge yourself stuffed with food. i lost about 60lbs taking dexatrim natural and water pills (to aide with water weight as i dropped pounds). i also did A LOT of walking. when my weight evened out and i wasnt loosing anymore i stopped the pills because they werent needed anymore. at my lowest weight using the pills exercise and portion control i couldnt even eat a happy meal. just be careful with how you choose to "diet" so you dont make yourself sick. just eat senceabley. good luck!

Well you already "know" it comes down to eating right and getting exercise. Stress/ hormones play a factor too, but if u are considering bypass surgery, I'm guessing you have more than just 20 lbs or so to lose. You're prob aware that mostly how we "think" is beyong the rational, conscious mind state, but comes from the suboncious mind that has early programmed thoughts/ behaviors. So to that end, have you ever considereded hypnotherapy? Certainly safer than surgery or crazy diet pills:)

Here's a hypnotherapist I'd refer: Roy Abadi. ###-###-####. He LOVES what he does. Tell him A. sent you. He's a sweet man.

I went to Unicorn Medical Weight Loss after I had my daughter. I gained 100, yes 100 lbs during me pregnancy. Needless to say I felt like a whale. I had some friends suggest I try Unicorn and let me tell you it was a dream come true!!!! They have an office off Green Valley Parkway and another office off Durango. It does cost $$(about $200 a month or you can pay 3months up front at a discounted rate), but if you are serious about losing weight and can stick to the diet it is worth it!!! The more weight you have to lose the quicker it comes off. I did the basic medical weight loss program that consists of B12 shots 2-3 times weekly, phentermine and a multi-vitamin, but they do have more things available. They are very friendly there so just give them a call and see if it is right for you. Here is the website: http://www.unicornmedispa.com/index.htm
where you can find contact info.

Well, I know how you feel, I tried everything and I had gained so much weight with pregnancies, I was way overweight and determined to get rid of it. I know this is not diet pills but I did the nutrisystem program for only 2 months and lost about 40 lbs. It really adjusts your body on eating smaller portions, without having to starve, cause they actually have you eat alot. Well after that I immediately joined Unicorn Medical Center, located in henderson, and they combine a b6/b12 shot with appetite suppressent pills and water pills, for substantial weight loss. Well within 1 month of doing that I dropped 4 dress sizes and within 3 months I lost another 20 lbs.
To be completely honest I never worked out. i just did my normal routine with my kids. I never went to the gym or did at home exercise videos.
So from April 2007, I weighed 200lbs and wore a size 19 by September 2007, I weighed 139lbs and wore a size 7.
I really reccommend both of these diets to anybody trying to lose weight. They worked great for me.
If you want info on Unicorn med center just send me a message

Hi, I completely agree with Irene Y. There is no easy way to loose weight. Trust me I've been there and am there again. At one point I lost 170 pounds by controlling portions and do exercises in moderation. Now after having 4 kids I need to loose weight again. Out of the 80 pounds I want to loose I've lost 34 so far and the only thing I did was portion control. It took me 4 months to loose all that weight though so just get started and be patient. It's better to loose the weight slowly (it took you a long time to put it on so it will take a while to loose it too) than to do a crash diet and gain it all back in a few months. You will see that as you loose weight your life style is changing too making it easier later on to keep your weight where you want it to be. Also as you start eating less your stomach will get smaller too and you won't be able to eat as much anymore. Stay away from diet pills as they will do you any good. You have to change your habits and diet pill will not teach you healthier eating habits.

Good luck to you! Let me know if I can help you with anything.

Hi L.,

I have tried practically every diet and diet pill known to wo-men. Most over-the-counter diet pills if they worked, would have a bunch of scientific double placebo studies and if you have a good doctor they would have recommended them to you. I have an enlarged left ventrical from Fen-Fen, and I did the legal speed type prescription drugs to only have my heart raise and hurt.

Bottom line is that you have to burn more calories then you eat on a daily basis over a long period of time. You gained it slow so you must lose it slow for long term results.

How will you maintain your weight loss? You need to change your life style to a healthy one permanently.

My home business has a diet club, weight loss, exercise program that I can offer you and anyone else who reads this a free limited membership to test the waters. A full fledged club membership will also get you a healthy eating program that you select and will even print out a menu and shopping list. We have blogs and message boards so you can find others like you to comiserate and encorrage each other. If you find that you are craving at 2 am you can go on-line and within minutes someone will respond to you and you can chat to resolve whatever it is without driving to Jack in the Box for cheesecake. There are diet tips, videos, and a easy why to track your exercise and be entered each time for a $300 to $1000 or an iPod or CamCorder, as a daily drawing just for logging in your exercise. Of course, I make a commission if you decide to purchase an exercise video and I'm sure you've seen the infomercials like Tony Horton's P90X or 10 Minute Trainer, or Shawn T's Hip Hop ABs, Debbie Seiber's Slim in/6, Charlean's Turbo Jam, or Yoga Bootie Ballet with Gillian and Teigh, etc. We even have a program for pre-diabetic and diabetics that is AMA approved Kathy Smith's Type 2 & You for 50% off. We have renowned Sports Trainers that you can chat with or Sports Nutritionist, like Steve Edwards that oversees our healthy life style Activate Vitamins and Minerals, Omega 3 combo nutritionals plus a whole lot more. I can show you how to get them at a discounted price if you are interested. Now these are what I call true "diet" pills. We have a lot more to offers but you get the idea.

Good luck to you but there is no magic pill, if there were, I would be trying to sell it to you. :^D

Hi L.

Unfortunately, there is no magic pill. My friend has an affordable diet program. It is call the Natural Cures diet but she uses a homeopathic hormone that you take under the tongue rather than injections. If you are motivated the plan really works. She, herself has lost 50 pounds and is keeping it off. Call her for information. The whole point to this kind of diet is to reset the hypothymus gland so if you eat right, you won't store the fat.

You have to be committed to restoring yourself to health.

Diet pills are dangerous. I have taken most of them that have been on the market over the last 20 years. They are a feeble attempt at fixing a situation. I would highly recommend you reconsidering. People do die from these things, even at the smallest dosage because they don't know how they will work with their bodies. Like one mother said... if you are going to do this it should be monitored by a doctor. Although even those didn't work for me. I'm 5'4 and at my heaviest I weighed 320 pounds. I KNOW what it's like to be fat. I KNOW what it's like to feel like NOTHING is going to work... however, I did figure out a program that works... and I was losing about 10 pounds a month, feeling better with more energy, and my self-esteem was increasing as well. I have now lost 160 pounds and that does include my pregnancy weight.
There is never a need for bypass surgery unless your having a heart attack or something. It's all about control and doing what you know to be right... which when you have fallen off the right path can take a minute to get back on, but it so worth it in the long run
I know help professionally work with people who want to do the same thing (as well as a myriad of other conditions)
Let me know if you are interested.
