Okay So I tried the Pleux Slim and it did not work. Now I am taking Garcina Cambogia and I don't see any results either. I don't know what else to do. I did buy a treadmill and get on it for about an hour every other night and still noting. My doctor told me that it is very hard to lose weight when going though Menopause. HELP What can I do. My acid reflux is really bothering me. I can't sleep at night. I am a zombie at work. I am a three year old teacher with about 40 children a day in my class. I have help of course.

What can I do next?

There is no magic pill. Pills can have horrid side effects which can cause heart attack, stroke and more.

Bottomline is moderation! You control what you eat and you get exercise ( even if you just walk 25 minutes a day)

It takes months to put on extra weight and it will take months to get not off properly. See you Dr and nutritionist for guidance.

I'm sure you realize that diet pills aren't the answer. They don't work. What are you eating? I would start there. Eat as clean as you can (veggies, fruits, whole grains, no white carbs, lean meats only, limit your dairy intake, cut out alcohol, soda, and fruit juice, don't eat things that are fried).

As far as exercise... you're in Nevada. Have you ever tried Kaia Fit? http://www.kaiafit.com/find-a-location/kaia-fit-locations/ If nothing else has worked for you, give it a go. Not only is it really fun, but they will kick your butt into shape in a hurry in a really supportive and friendly environment. They do high-intensity interval training - it keeps your muscles guessing and burns fat like crazy.

Lastly, has your doctor screened you for thyroid issues and pre-diabetes? Any kind of endocrine issue will effectively prevent you from losing weight and will wreak havoc with your metabolism. I had an undiagnosed thyroid issue for nearly a decade. Now that I have been diagnosed and on medication for it, it is SO much easier to exercise and lose weight!

Anyhow, I hope those suggestions help you! Good luck!

Unless you cut how much you are eating, you will not see change.

As we age, we need less nutritionally on a daily basis. Most women take in almost 2x as much as they actually need for calories, especially during menopause. Track what you eat, and start cutting it down.
Exercise alone won't be enough to make a difference.

it is hard to lose weight after menopause. i so do wish there were a magic pill, but there's not. good for you for getting on the treadmill, but an hour every other evening isn't working for you, so you need to change that up. get on it in the morning, and do 15 or 20 hard minutes. every 2nd or 3rd day stay off it and do a power walk, or zoomba or something. and twice a week don't do aerobic exercise, lift weights instead. your bones will thank you.
exercise without changing your diet will help make you more fit, but won't make you lose weight. you've got to eat healthier, period. make small changes, don't 'diet' and then rebound.
what is your doctor doing about your acid reflux?
good sleep is probably the most important factor here. if you're not sleeping and a zombie at your stressful job, that's causing your body to hang onto its fat stores. you shouldn't be talking to your doctor about your weight so much as your acid reflux and sleeplessness.
good luck!

Are you eating less? Are you eating healthy?

You say you are exercising, which is good. But you have to eat less and you have to eat healthily, because walking for an hour only burns about three hundred calories.

The diet pills won't work. They never do. Have you tried Weight Watchers? They have an online program and their diet guidelines are usually pretty good. You might need some guidance in how to eat properly.

There's no magic pill.

You don't mention how long you have been working out, nor do you mention how you have changed your eating plan. Are you still eating and drinking junk? Are you starving yourself? (DON'T!) Are you doing strength training as well as walking on the treadmill? Are you getting plenty of water?

Stop the pills. They don't work, they drain your wallet, and they can be dangerous. If there were a magic pill, we'd all know about it. You can't believe the hype on the ads, and in fact, often what they claim is in the bottle of pills just isn't. Most of this stuff is made in other countries with little or no regulation. Our own FDA is far from comprehensive but it's better than what's in some of these other places. If there's no patent on what your taking, you should question it. Patents are hard to get but they are proof of safety, effectiveness and uniqueness. But you want comprehensive nutrition and not just an ingredient here, a vitamin there. That's not how our bodies absorb and utilize nutrients.

You are messing with your metabolism in a negative way. The exhaustion and the stress can cause your body to retain fat as a way to sustain itself under stress. You are sleep deprived. You cannot focus. You probably shouldn't be driving! (I know you have to, but it's not good for you.)

You need really good nutrition - cellular is best. This helps immensely with menopausal symptoms, sleep, energy, etc. You need help with the acid reflux too. These digestive issues really take their toll on us. You could benefit from 5 small meals a day but don't cut out healthy fats like a lot of people do on diets. You need the fats from olive oil, avocados, nuts, fish, etc. Be sure there is lean protein in your diet too.

I'd cut back the treadmill to 1/2 hour every day if you can vs. 1 hour every other, or even 5 days a week. That will give you some cardio. If you're dreading it, it's adding to the stress, but if you're embracing it (maybe reading a book while doing it to zone out to another world) that's a good thing. I'd add in weights the other days - you can do them while you are watching TV if you want to, but weights build muscle which burns more fat. They also help protect against osteoporosis which is a big risk during menopause and beyond. Start with light weights so you don't get injured. If you don't have any, use bottles of water or canned tomatoes - really! Don't look at the scale because muscle weighs more, but do look at your clothes. I completely disagree with people who say not to do exercises because they add on weight!! Makes no sense. Overexercising and taking steroids like some of those musclemen at the gym, yeah, that's overkill. But not working out and building muscle because it might add something on the scale? Not healthy!

Give yourself 3 months. Don't look for immediate results.

If you need more support, we're here for you!

Calories burned>calories consumed.
Most people find that exercising more and eating less makes that formula happen.
You might consider a probiotic as well.

Actually, if you are not getting enough sleep and stressing, it can lower your natural metabolism. That is the problem I am having. I am lucky if I sleep 4 hours at night. And when I stress badly, I get heartburn most of the time. I have spoken to the doc and one thing I am trying to do is get more sleep of course, see how I am eating. I am trying to eat well but you could think you are eating well but end up not actually eating properly or not enough. One thing that helped me before was tracking my stuff on sparkpeople. It is free. Also, a few years ago I did a "diet" called 50 million pound challenge. It was actually too much food for me but I lost 13 pounds. Then found out I was pregnant so that went out the door. :) You may want to talk to a nutritionist to get an idea of how much you should eat for maximum benefit.

As for diet pills, they do not work. The only benefit I might have found when I tried them was I did not crave junk as much. But they don't help drop the pounds.
Oh, and you may want to try adding weights a few times a week in addition to a treadmill workout..

If you are grossly overweight then perhaps visiting a diet doc for better advice...

I'd say you may be overdoing it with exercise. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat. If you're using the treadmill that much you have added weight by building up instead of reducing.

There are exercises meant for building up muscles, for bulking up, for making a 6 pack for instance.

Then there are exercises for reducing fat and inches. Those are repetitive but with little weight. They are meant to burn calories and not build bulk with weights.

I remember when I was paying to work out at a large gym in OKC and wasn't losing weight but gaining weight instead. I visited with a coach and he told me a lot of what I was doing was wrong. I loved leg presses and leg lifts where I laid down and pulled a bar with weights up towards my hiney. I found out that those machines were putting weight on me IN THOSE Areas!!!

So I started doing more reps but with no weights. It seems useless at first but I could actually see definition and I could wear a size smaller jeans in a few weeks.

I'd like a magic pill to lose weight too, but as all the other moms have said Diet and Exercise is the only way. I have a couple of suggestions for the acid reflux. I have a hiatal hernia, symptoms are similar to acid reflux. I bought a wedge for under my pillow which elevates my head a few more inches; it has helped me with nighttime heartburn. I'd talk to your doctor about taking a PPI, like Prilosec, for a short time until you can get it under control (losing weight will help that too). Good luck.

Try Weight Watchers, and get on that treadmill EVERY day instead of every other day. Walking on a treadmill is NOT going to make you gain mass. Do it while you're watching TV. Drink 16 ounces of water when you wake up in the morning, 30 more before lunch, and then 30 more between lunch and dinner. DON'T eat after 7:00 pm.

You do need to address that acid reflux with the doctor.

If you don't exercise, you won't lose weight. It's that simple. (I know - I hate exercise too.) The more weight you lose, the easier it is to exercise.

You should expect to only lose 1 or 2 pounds a week. Yes, that's depressing. But it's a healthy weight loss.
