are you worried about needing supplements because you are breastfeeding? That's the beauty of breastmilk... it is mother nature's perfect recipe regardless of your diet. This is why malnourished women in 3rd world countries can successfully nourish their children with breastmilk. I would think that the company would have information available for you, either on the bottle or maybe a website. I work with a company that also sells supplements, and it does say to check with your doctor before taking any if you are nursing.

I tend to think that if you are eating right and still taking a pre-natal vitamin, you should be ok without supplements. Even though the doctor ok'd them for me, I never took them until I was done breast-feeding. But, that's just me...

Sorry, this probably wasn't much help!

yeah, your better off waiting. they will tell you that it could get into your breastmilk. may not effect your baby, but could effect the taste. then you have a baby that doesn't want to nurse. breastfeeding burns alot of calories all on its' own. just watch what you eat, make sure you are drinking tons of water. believe it or not, that makes all the difference in the world

Dear A.,

I have been a Pharmanex Distributor for over 8 years. I suggest you examine the quality, efficacy and absorbability of all vitamins before taking them. The only reason I take Pharmanex over any other is because of all those reasons and many more.
Most of all I feel very good and they have made a big difference in my overall health. The company guarentees that or return your money. That's an interesting story in it's self. www.maxcast.com/pharmanex explains more.

There is a website to look at www.lifepaknano.com

Hi A.,

I use USANA vitamins at the moment and I did so while I was breastfeeding. I use the "Essentials".

My friend at work introduced me to them. I was originally drawn to them because my friend told me they were completely soluble and I did the test myself. My only problem with them is remembering to take them twice per day. For some reason my brain doesn't seem to connect with that for a vitamin, whereas I am normally compliant with any other form of medication and it's required frequency. For this reason, I didn't always get the right daily percentage - but that was my own fault.

My friend also told me that they gave her more energy. Personally, I did not notice this response, but I like them for other reasons.

The folate is 130%/day. However, the calcium is only 30% if you take both servings. There is nothing on the label or information that infers that they are for breastfeeding Moms and I did not feel that 30% was adequate for my calcium needs, so I chose to compensate for that.

They also have an "ask the scientist" option so your distributor should be able to access that for you with any questions you may have. I believe you can access it too once you are a member.

Hope this helps.

Hi A.,
Have you tried the new nutritious drink - developed especially for pregnant and breastfeeding moms? I invented Glow Mama myself when I was pregnant and nursing and am just launching it now. It has been approved by the American Pregnancy Association because it is so full of folic acid, fiber, calcium, iron, vitamin C, etc.
Check it out on www.drinktoglow.com
Cheers,

Well, I'm sure that Usana has a great line of vitamin supplements, though I see no independent (of the company) clinical research showing that it makes a difference in the body once ingested. I am personally a big fan of whole food vs. isolated nutrients. Since our diet is largely deficient in fruits, veggies, whole grains & Omega 3 fatty acids (flax seed ground up in a coffee grinder and then put in juice is the most effective way to get it) that’s a great place to start. The body needs lots of nutrients to choose from everyday, not the 30 or so that we choose to give it in vitamin (isolated & often mega-dosing) form. Whole food offers thousands of nutrients for the body to choose from. There's no problem with eating healthier food and how it affects the breast milk.

If you're not getting the 9+ servings of fruits & veggies a day and want to supplement that, you can. Juice Plus+ is 17 fruits, veggies & grains in a capsule and backed by 13 independent clinical research studies (Vanderbilt Univ, Georgetown Univ., UCLA, etc.) showing what happens in the body once ingested. For more info., you can go to www.JPforNutrition.com.
Hope that helps!

I don't know about Usana but I do know about Isagenix. There are many wonderful products that are safe and even beneficial for pregnant and nursing moms. You will be repleting your body with low calorie organic whole foods that include vitamins, probiotics and easily absorbable minerals . I truly believe this is the healthiest food on the planet. You would stick with your pre-natals though as they are especially formulated for pregnant and nursing moms. There are also some products you should avoid and I could explain this further to you. Isagenix is the system Dr. Shoshanna Bennett refers pregnant and nursing women to. Let me know if you are interested. I have helped hundreds of mothers. You can email me direct at ____@____.com for more info.
