Hi there,
I am just wanting to get your responses on any good digital cameras you have had. I had a Nikon Coolpix (not sure of the model, it was about 1 1/2 years old) but i dropped it and broke it! So now I am looking for a new one that takes pictures quickly (my old one took forever to re-load after you take a picture). If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it! Thanks :)

What can I do next?

I have a Canon Powershot A550 and I swear it's the best camera I've ever bought. You can take high quality pics, you can make videos with it. You can do anything with this little bugger. The only regrert is that I bought the one that required AA batteries (you go through them so fast) instead of buying the one with the lithium battery (I'm cheap lol). So if you get one, get the one with the lithium battery. All you have go do it charge it back to full power.

I've had 3 different digital cameras and they've all been Cannon. I love them! They're very user friendly and it's never hard to find accessories for them. Also, very affordable. I've never had a complaint about any of them.

We love the Canon PowerShot series. We own two - my husband likes to have his own so that we get pictures of both of us with the kids - and we couldn't be happier with the pictures we get and the cameras' durability and performance. The first one we bought was about four years ago, and even though the new ones have better features and bigger preview screens, I still love the old one and it works like it's brand new. We've also recommended the line to friends and family and have heard nothing but good things from those who have gone with one of them. HIGHLY recommended.

I have a Kodak EasyShare Z710 7.1MP with 10x zoom and LOVE IT! It's great for getting the "action" photos when the kids are doing sports, but there's a bunch of other settings on it for night shots, sunny shots, etc.

We really like our Sony Cybershot and it was pretty reasonably priced from Best Buy. I hear that hp digital cameras also are a good value. We wish we would have gotten one that had a printer too. Good luck, you'll be back to taking pictures in no time.

http://www.dpreview.com/ for recommendations and reviews of all models.

It depends on what you are using it for and how much you use it.

For the person having problems with the FujiFilm A340, there are a few things..#1-Low battery=slow response time. I only use at least 2500 NMHD rechargables in my digital cameras. #2 you get what you pay for-that is a 3 year old entry level basic camera. #3 It is a standard CCD and not a Super CCD so will be a slower. #4 If you half depress the trigger to shoot the picture that will allow the camera to adjust for lighting and focus...when you finihs depressing the button the picture will take instantaneously.

As far as the Kodak Easy shares- #1 Buy American not Kodak #2 It is far from easy to use as the name suggests..my grandfather can't handle it, the onscreen menus are hard to navigate and the customer service sucks if you have to use it. You have to mail it to Texas and deal with barely english speaking individuals even if it is brand spanking new out of the box. The friends I have had with them have hated them so I am surprised to see positive comments on here about them. It is probably because everyone wants something personal in a camera.
Good luck!

Hi M.,
I also had a Nikon Coolpix that I thought was great - until I got my new camera. Last December I bought a Canon SD630 with 6.0 megapixels. It has a pretty large screen which I love! Compared to my Coolpix, the Canon is a lot slimmer. I think it's easy to use & takes pictures quicker than the Coolpix did. In the past year I've taken over 1000 pictures & it still works as good as it did the day I got it. I think I paid around $250 at Sears (they price match if you find it lower in 30 days). I would buy this camera again.
I also just bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 editing program. It makes the pictures even better & I would recommend it as much as finding a good camera.
Hope this helps!

I couldnt be happier with my CASIO Exilim EX-Z1000 10.1 mega pixels camera, I got it a year ago at Costco on sale for 300 (60 dollars off), It takes killer pictures, video, sound, 35 different "Best Shot" settings to pick from, it has a setting I just learned about (which I love) where you hold down the button to take the picutre and it just sits and takes quick shots over and over until you lift your finger, then it has another that takes 3 super duper fast photos at a time.
You can check them out here http://www.casio.com/products/Cameras/
I dont think they make the EX-Z1000 anymore, but it looks like the EX1200SR with the 12.1 mega pixel took its place, which is even better. Another thing I love about it is how huge the screen on the back is, Its pricy but you'd love it. AND its compatable with my vista to make home videos and slide shows with music and effects, I'm just having to much fun with it. I just bought a 4G chip so it takes about an hour of video. AND I took my video camera back and got refunded because my camera does a better job.

BTW, I think mine was more money becaue it came with a docking station and memory chip, a lot of cameras you have to purchase that seperate.

My first was an Olympus and I hated it. That was quite a while ago. I used to ALWAYS get Olympus 35mm cameras, my favorite by far.
My next one was a Canon Elph. I loved that camera, but had trouble with it, twice. The first time was about 5 months after I bought it and was able to exchange for a new one. The next time I had trouble, I searched online about the problem and it seems to be quite common and not fixable.
Now I have an Olympus Stylus and I love it, very much. It is the Stylus 710, 7.1 mp. I've had it for about 2 years. It's tiny, has a huge screen, takes very nice pictures. I paid $250 on eBay and it came with a case, extra battery and memory card. Very happy.

If you want one that takes pictures quickly, you're actually looking for a higher end model. I have a Canon Rebel XT and LOVE IT! IT has instant SRL (Shutter Release) and can take up to 5 pictures with a hold of the button. th only problem is it is about $500. My uncle, a professional Photographer, recommended it to us because it has excellent quality, good brand, long lasting, and the only camera you'll ever need. Good luck!

DON'T buy the "finpix a340" by fujifilm, it is a pile of junk. It takes the pick like 3 seconds after you push the button, and takes almost a minute to get ready for the next pick.
My mom got one by polorid (sp) she likes it...that is all I can say about it.
Digitals have come a long way in the past few years.
Did you know they have digitals for toddlers to use, they run about $60.

I have a digital elph that I love. Your best bet though would be go to Best Buy and talk to their camera specialist. The employees there are trained very well and definitely know what they are talking about. Once you find the one you like, then shop around for the cheapest but usually Best Buy associates are the most informed.

Oh!
I have a Sony Cybershot. It has 10x zoom, 7.1 megapixel. I've had it about a year & love it.
You can get it at Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy. It runs between $175 - $200 depending on what store you get it from. I love the quality of pictures it takes, it's small...so I keep it in my purse ALL THE TIME! You can also take videos with it.

Good luck on your camera hunt. I hope this helps!

I have a Canon PowerShot and it's really great. I used to have a Kodak EasyShare until my husband broke it - we got the Canon for Xmas last year. When we're outside or in really bright light, it takes pictures really really quickly - great for action. If it needs the flash, it takes a little bit longer, but it's still tons faster than the Kodak - the reload time was my biggest gripe with that camera.

We recently purchased a new digital camera, a Canon SD850 and so far I really like it a lot. It doesn't have a long delay and the pictures are very sharp. I don't think I even figured out all the features on it yet. We got it at the Mart and I found some of the sales people there to be very helpful in figuring out which camera is the best for you, depending on what you use it for, etc.

I got a Kodak EasyShare C875 last year, and I just love it, much better than the HP I used to have. It has awesome zoom--I actually too pictures of downtown Vegas FROM THE PLANE SITTING IN THE AIRPORT and they looked like I took them from standing right there on the strip!

I am a throw back to the 35mm, I have a 1000.00 set up and wouldn't change it, but my husband wanted a digital, I had used a friends Kodak easy share and really liked it, it was simple enough that my husband could figure it out but had lots of extras for when I felt the need to use it. So I went out and bought one, they have really nice ones around 200.00 that don't have that delay when you take the picture, I also researched them online before I bought one, someone mentioned it before but best buy can be the best place to go and ask questions, even if you don't buy from them (they have really goods sales if you watch thier Sunday ad's). Good luck and happy hunting.
