Congrats C.! Station has to do with how far the baby is or rather how low the baby is, for instance -4 would be the baby just entering the pelvis and +4 station would be when the baby is ready to be born and at the perenium. ..Hope this helps!

Wish you the best! :)

The baby has dropped some. But really, none of that means anything when it comes to prediction of labor, which is why good docs and midwives don't bother checking. I was 4cm for a week before going into labor! Just decline all the cervical checks. They only introduce bacteria to the area and if you let them do it after your water has broken, you can introduce bacteria to the baby as well.
You're 38 weeks pregnant which means you have a 95% chance of going into labor in the next 4 weeks ;)

Stations are where the baby's head is located in the pelvis. You have to be at 0 to deliver. it goes -3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3. I've included a url to look at to help you see the individual stations.

The station is where the baby is in your pelvis, birth canal and cervis. It ranges from positive to negative numbers. Here's a good link that explains what the numbers mean:

Good luck!

That is awesome! What an excellent place to be. Stations describe how far down the baby's head is. Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze53Ep-gwBQ It is a medical animated video. I really liked watching this one and the one about birth.

Congratulations! It is soooo exciting!

-4 is high, 0 is "engaged," and up to +4 is during labor. I had 3 babies and was at 0 station for up to a week or 2; however, babies can move back up as well when they're on the edge. I can say that with my 1st I was 4 cm dilated but not in labor and I was induced due to an arrhythmia. Who knows when he would have come. I was between 4 and 5 cm for 3 or 4 days prior to my 2nd and she came on her own then. My 3rd, I was about 4 when I stayed at the hospital and I waited for a bit (luckily) because I progressed to 6 w/in an hour. I also can say I wasn't someone who got very effaced until the end. I hung in there around 50 or 75 for a few weeks, then progressed right at the end.

Your baby could come any time, but based on my experience, you could be waiting a couple of more weeks. We just never know. :) I hope you enjoy the end of your pregnancy. I kow how uncomfortable it can get. Take care.
