Is there anyone out there that can offer some recipies that I may use for dinner. I'm not sure about you, but I am tired of cooking the same meals every other week for my family.

Any help will be appreciated

So What Happened?

WOW! There are so many moms out there that are going through the same thing, that is always good to know that I am not alone. Everyone was so helpful in wanting to share their stories and recipies. Thanks a bunch.

Your help and input was greatly appreciated.

My friend introduced me to this forum and for about one year I would delete the messages, it wasn't until just a week ago that I decided to actualy open up one of the messages and saw that this is a great place to mingle with people like me, and there is no hanky panky going on.

my favorite site for recipe suggestions is www.recipezaar.com It is free, and user run so you don't get all of the brand specific recipes no one has even tried. There is a search engine and you can narrow results by a recipes 5 star rating. Rating is done by registered users so you know if it has 5 stars it is definitely good!

Hello B.,

I subscribe (free) to a website that sends an already menu plan for the week. You don't have to go by it, but it gave me ideas to which meals I like for my family. I have four boys ranging from 11 to 3 months old. So, wondering about dinner every night would be time consuming. From these meals I have gathered "dinner's" for two months straight....It's all our favorites and it helps with the grocery shopping. I love their template for menu planning. I use it all the time!!! Hope this helps.

I wouldn't mind sharing recipes, but I am unsure what you are looking for. Casserole/one dish meals, chicken, fish...what kinds of foods does your family eat?

I have found some good recipes on Allrecipes.com, Cooks.com, and Foodnetworktv.com...otherwise if you tell me what kinds of dishes you are looking for, I will be glad to share some of my and my family's favorites!

I highly recommend you check out www.allrecipes.com My friends and I have gotten some great recipes off of that website. It's great because every recipe has reviews from people who've tried it and they also give tips and suggestions.

Last year I joined RelishRelish.com ($7 month) and have never regretted it! It is an online menu service that sends out an email once a week. Each week you choose five of fifteen meals (most designed to be done in less than 30 minutes) and then you get a pdf file of the recipes (main dish and side dish) and a customized shopping list for the week organized by grocery category. You get to choose how many people you are serving, so the grocery list is very specific (4 eggs, 6 slices of bacon, etc.). There are always vegetarian items and kind friendly suggestions. They also include new freezer meals each month and special menus (Thanksgiving, dinner and movie, fondue party, etc.).

It has seriously changed my life, reduced my grocery bill, and made my husband and kids smile about dinner (which was NEVER the case before).

Hope this helps,
A.

we just tried this one last night. i have 3 kids-13, 12 & almost 2 & they all enjoyed it, as did my husband, so i think it's a crowd pleaser.

RICE, BROCCOLI AND CHICKEN CASSEROLE

1 sm. jar Cheese Whiz (couldn't find at my commissary so i used velveeta instead)
20 oz. frozen chopped broccoli
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped onion
Chopped pimiento
Bread crumbs
1 sm. can mushrooms and liquid (left out b/c we don't like them...i added about a cup of water to replace the liquid)
1 sm. can water chestnuts, drained
1 1/2 c. Minute rice, uncooked
Salt and pepper
1 sm. chicken, cooked and de-boned (i used 3 cans of tyson chicken & it came out fine)

Mix ingredients. Put in buttered casserole. Sprinkle with chopped pimentos and bread crumbs on top. Drizzle with 1/2 cup melted butter. Bake 40 minutes in 325 degree oven - uncovered.

this recipe came from cooks.com. i've had good luck with that site-you might want to check it out!

I know what you mean on cooking the same meals over and over. I found several easy meals on the box top for education website. I just moved to Japan and several meals I am comfortable cooking are difficult here b/c the commissary does not carry what I need. Check out that website though. I will tell you an easy meal that has become popular in my home. Get pre-cooked meatballs if you can find them. I had to make my own and freeze them. Buy a can of grands biscuits. Split each biscuit into 2 pieces. Wrap each meatball with the biscuits. I think you end up with 10 or so meatballs. That will feed 3 people. Cook them by following the biscuit directions. I serve them with spaghetti sauce. Oh the meatballs should be thawed before you cook them. My son loves them and they take about 10 min to make. Hope this helps.

Check out savingdinner.com

It is a very low cost subscription service that emails you a menu once a week, complete with a shopping list. Our grocery bills were cut in half because I started to buy only what we needed! Great way to try new recipes.

Hope this helps.

HI
I'm with you! It gets so old sometimes. Here are some things we do, maybe some will be new to your group. 1-Sundays I make a roast or some other type of big item that can have multiple uses--like two chickens. Eat one traditional style with mashed potatos and green beans on Sunday. Monday, make quesadillas or a casserole, Tuesday, use the rest in a soup or chicken chili--you could save that for later in the week as well so you're not eating chicken three days in a row. Or roast beef or do it in the crock pot, with the leftovers you can do tacos or tamales, a beef vegetable soup, or a shepard's pie. Quick and easy from the store: Bush's chili, dump it over cooked spaghetti, add some chopped onion and shredded cheese and in five minutes you have Chili Mac my kids gobble this up! Make some homemade red sauce or buy jarred and frozen meatballs, this takes 15 minutes to prepare. If you make your own sauce you can keep it on hand for a long time and use it for baked dishes and sub sandwiches as well as pasta. And, easy and quick, my kids love an omelette for dinner, with cheese and ham in it. I serve it with broccoli and fruit and they love it! Hope this helps!
