Disgusting (Yet Delicious) Food Combos

My sisters and I eat some weird stuff and our kids now are taking after us. Apparently apple sauce and cottage cheese is the RAGE at my sister's house. Cottage cheese and French dressing or ketchup is a close second.

What weird food combos do you just love?

So What Happened?

Oh YES! Ketchup and mayo mixed is AWESOME with fries. I miss eating that at Chic-fil-A.

My sister just reminded me of: Jell-o, milk and sugar. My dad did that all the time.

My little sister still eats mashed up graham crackers and milk. The mushier the better...looks like wet cardboard.

We are weird food eaters here...strange combos that just go together...

BBQ sauce on mac and cheese...(just decided to have that for lunch today!)

Hot, salty french fries dipped in a thick chocolate shake (try it...you will never look at a french fry OR shake the same way ever again!)

I made a stew that my grandma from Czech used to make with ketchup, water, onion, roast, bay leaf and ginger snaps. It is to die for yummy!

I love yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles in a bowl with cold milk.

I love cottage cheese and pineapple chunks.

My friend swears by peanut butter and bacon on bagels...haven't tried this one yet but I am up for the challenge!

We have this old recipe that my grandma used to make...plums wrapped in dough and boiled. Once cooked and drained, cut up, add dry cottage cheese, clarified butter and cinnamon sugar. Personally, I think these are a little taste of what it to come in heaven.

This was FUN!!!

I grew up eating rice with butter and sugar. I was an adult before I found out that most people don't eat it that way!

We also grew up putting leftover cornbread in a bowl, pouring milk on it and eating it with a spoon like cereal.

We also eat french toast with powdered sugar on it, and never syrup.

One of my favorite authors eats peanut butter and olive sandwhiches though ... just the thought makes me gag LOL

My mom and sister LOVE cake in a bowl with milk. My oldest son LOVES fries dipped in a chocolate shake. My hubby LOVES broccoli with mayonaise on it. I'm related to weird people LOL

I posted this question awhile ago and got 100+ responses! So interesting to see what kind of "weird" foods people eat.

I have some weird sandwich combos: pineapple on tuna, cheese, pickle and mayo on potato bread, and mix some peanut butter with some orange juice and some raisins, put on bread....yum!!!

I also like Nacho Cheese Doritoes dipped in sour cream.

When I was little I would roll cheddar cheese into little balls then roll in sugar and eat them. Also make a cup of coffee, heavy with cream and sugar and put popped buttered popcorn in the cup of coffee and spoon out and eat...I know, weird...

I also like cottage cheese with Green Goddess dressing mixed in.

I'm sure I have a ton more but can't think of them now! =)

Isn't mayo & ketchup french dressing?

Anyway, I like waffles with ice cream on them.
Yummy.
Is that weird?

And Breakstone's cottage cheese doubles have apple--so maybe that's mainstream now?

I marinate my meat in soda sometimes.
I've always done the cottage cheese and dressing combo, my choice is usually ranch , but french, itallian , russian , they all work well.
I also eat my cottage cheese on top of pears. with the dressing on top of them.

I used to make nachos with spicy pickles in them. Told hubby and he turned green. So I made some and had him try them (without telling him what was in it, of course, heh heh) and he loved them.

My mom dips bread in her red wine when she's having both. Of course she'll also dip bread in her water glass before she takes a bite, she's a little strange.

My son (now 24) still likes cheddar cheese on his Quaker maple and brown sugar oatmeal. He eats sliced bananas on (yes I said on, not with) every dinner including spaghetti and meatballs. I love putting blue cheese dressing just about any meal (not breakfast). And my husband puts pickles in PB&J's.

My mom used to make this hotdog dish that my brother and I made fun of but secretly thought was really good:

Hotdog slit length-wise, line of mustard down each half, covered with applesauce, and topped with a slice of American cheese. Baked until cheese melted.

Pretty yummy. Who woulda thought?

Oh I'm on this like white on rice.

My grandfather taught me to mix cottage cheese and applesauce and sprinkle over cinamon (before it came with cinnamon). I'm almost constitutionally incapable of eating that any other way!!!

2 other cottage cheese things:
1) Using salt and pepper potato chips as edible spoons for cottage cheese (like tortilla chips and salsa!) . LOVE!!!
2) Using about 1/2 cup - 1 cup of cottage cheese to 'cool' hot tomato soup. Loved when I was a kid, and kids I know love it... but as an adult I'm not so keen. Super creamy soup, though.

Tostones (fried bananas) dipped in guacamole LOVE!

Hot salty french fries dipped in icy sweet chocolate shake LOVE!

Pregnancy craving that stuck: Avocado and sauerkraut. I know. It probably really is disgusting. But I love, love, love it. I put avocado on all my Rueben sammies. LOVE!

Shrimp & tapioca chips (it's an asian thing)

Pickled Sour Plums (umeboshi) and smoked salmon

1 dipping container of ranch + 1 squirt of catsup in the middle = 2nd best fry dipping sauce (first is tied with chocolate shake or aioli, imho).

There's more... but I'd have to think about what my mum rolls her eyes at me for eating!

Oh... not a weird food... but a weird time to eat it: Oysters on the half make the BEST breakfast in hot locales!!! When I lived in the French Quarter I'd stumble out every morning (sometimes still in pjs... but this is the quarter... I could be naked and no one would care) to the Desire Oyster Bar for oysters and something icy to drink, a cigarette and my newspaper. LOVED!

my niece created an excellent salad dressing: she combines honey dijon with raspberry vinaigrette. Looks kinda yucky, but totally YUMM.

my older son puts ranch on everything.....pizza, chili, spaghetti. He also puts Louisiana hot sauce in his ramen noodles, all his soups, & most other foods.

my younger son lived on PB & banana....all mashed up together & eaten with a spoon. Well, that is, until he became allergic to PB due to overindulgence (according to the allergist!).

my ILs serve ham & bean soup.....over pancakes. Yuck.

my ILs serve spinach & fried egg noodles. You boil the freshly-made egg noodles, drain them, & then fry them in butter....not margarine or in a nonstick pan...but in butter. While that's all cooking, you peel, chop, & boil some potato. Near the end of cooking, drain off some of the starchy water & add canned spinach to the pot. Let the spinach/tater combo simmer together. Pile the fried noodles on your plate, dump some spinach/taters over it. Lots of S&P.....& enjoy! Looks like puke, tastes like heaven....once you acquire the taste!

Oh, & I make a spice cake made with tomato soup!

EDIT: using plain potato chips as dippers for chocolate ice cream. Double yummmm.
My older son mixes Louisiana hot sauce with ranch for most sandwiches.
My mom & grma eat bread soaked in milk.
I like to crumble brownies & soak them in milk. Grosses my son out!
PB & white Karo syrup.....delicious with crackers & fruit.
french fries dipped in regular or spicy mustard, not ketchup.
occasionally we deep-fry dill pickle spears, dipped in funnel cake batter.

WOW! This has been fun....

I love to do French fries or potato chips dipped in chocolate shakes, and
blueberries and sourcream with brown sugar on top.

My hubby will eat a evening 'snack' of a bowl of cereal ( any kind) with a big blob of peanut butter and milk in it, take a bit of PB some cereal and milk and eat it all together. Also, Peanut butter, honey and wheat germ sandwiches, as well as peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches are some of his childhood favorites. Can you tell he REALLY likes peanut butter?

More common, but gross to me is eggs with ketchup or salsa on them...DH loves that, also Macaroni and cheese with stewed tomatos or ketchup on/in it - yuck to me.

My 5 year old daughter will dip ANYTHING in ketchup, including apples, ewwww. She has literally drank ketchup when she doesn't use it all up on her food.

Oh, Pizza dipped in applesauce or pizza with ranch and/or western/french dressing drizzled on it. I almost forgot those two.
