Has anyone found a way to get sports coverage without having cable TV? The only reason we have Direct tv is so my husband can watch sports. Otherwise, he'd be onboard with getting rid of TV, too. I know this question has been asked before, but since things in this realm are constantly changing, I thought I would pose this again to see if someone had found a way to get sports without cable or satellite packages. Thanks!
Just want to say that sports was our only reason for keeping it for so long, we finally got rid of it last winter. My husband misses watching baseball but listens to the game on the radio instead. We're happier overall not having that high cable bill.
My friend got Roku and loves it. I don't know anything other than she bought the device and she watches tons of free stuff all the time and pays for one or two stations and can watch those shows at any time.
That's the reason we keep it too - more for him in the baseball/basketball seasons and definitely for me during football. It's almost football time! YAY!!!
We didn't find a way to get all of the games (we get the NFL package) so I won't get rid of it. Sucks to have the bill, but it's worth it for me during the 6-7 months of the year we get football.
We have the same issue. Are there certain teams he likes to watch? Could you buy the baseball or football package online and watch it on the computer instead of on TV? There are also various devices like Google Chromecast and Apple TV that let you watch your computer streaming on your television.
Have you heard of sling box? It allows you to watch your TV from a computer. If you have a friend or extended family member who watches the same games, you could get the sling box and set it up on their television. It's not a perfect solution but something to consider.

I tried that late last year. Unfortunately, my husband's sport is soccer and it is not available to watch on TV or Computer. I did find a computer site to play one game he wanted to see for the month or so we did not have any service but it was incredibly bad play. I believe I saw ESPN on Roku and Amazon but those channels don't play the soccer matches.
