DIY Household Cleaners to save Money

I'm trying to find more ways to save money on everyday household cleaning items by making my own, rather than purchasing the commercial products.

For example, I have been making my own laundry detergent & fabric softener. I am going to make my own dishwasher detergent when we run out of the Cascade pacs. I've tried making my own drain cleaner (test run #2 as I type this! Bad, BAD drain!) I also have a recipe for baby wipes I want to try.

Any other suggestions? What recipes do you like?

Thanks!

EDIT TO ADD: I also make my own "shampoo" and "conditioner." So, I've got those covered! :)

I make my own all purpose cleaner.
1/2 cup white vinegar
1tbsp dish soap
Fill a squirt bottle with water
Make sure to add the soap last.

I clean everything with this. Much safer with kids and pets around.

I like the perfume smells and the "luxury" of shampoos and fabric softeners. Although, I use plain old white vinegar to clean everything! It smells like a easter egg at first but once it dries, nothing but clean!

How do you even find out how to make laundry detergent? and do you have one for hard water satins? I cannot use CLR, and besides baking soda in bulk I have no clue what to use.

I havent found a recipe but... I have fallen in love with my moms old cleaning stand by..... murphy's oil soap... I clean EVERYTHING with it from the glass shower doors to the toilet, floors the leather seats in the car!.. so in a way I am saving money because I am down to one general cleaner and its a green product so I dont worry about the kids or pets!

If you have copper that needs brightening slice a lemon in half, sprinkle it with salt and rub. Make sure to use gloves, otherwise you'll find every small little owie. I've also used this method to clean a wok.

I like using Dr. Brommers peppermint soap, baking soda, and enough water to make a paste for scrubbing the shower. It works so well and smells like a fresh spa when I am done. The Dr. Brommers is a little spendy up front, but I only use a little at a time. Anything to make bathroom cleaning more pleasant :)

Look up ways to use vinegar online. Tons of ideas. And don't worry about the smell--as soon as it dries there is NO smell.

I like these websites.
