Hello,

Just wondering if any of you had a splash pad installed in your backyard? If so, do you feel that it was worth the price? Do your kids really enjoy it or does the 'fun' wear off after a few weeks? Thanks in advance for your answer!

What can I do next?

What's a splash pad? LOL
If you are referring to a pool, yes, we have one and the kids don't get bored with it until the last month of summer every year. And then, it wasn't until maybe this year that that happened (so, the 7th summer?)...

If a splash pad is NOT a pool.... then I've got no clue. But anything short of a pool, I would think would get really old, really quick.

okay, I had to google this. Didn't know what it was. Once I figured it out, I still didn't know people put them in their yards.
Obviously we don't have one. But I wouldn't put one in. I think the novelty would wear off really fast. And as they got older, they'd lose interest entirely.

Hi! We've never had a splash pad but we did install a 12'X 30' piece of fake grass so my kids could play with water as much as they wanted without making mud. We probably have had every water "thing" possible. And when they weren't playing with water they had a clean place to sit and play. They would be happy out there for hours and hours.

Do your kids run through sprinklers? Really if I were you I would buy a fan type sprinkler and see how quickly they grow bored with that. Save yourself a bundle!

I don't have one because there is no way I am spending thousands on something they will get bored with in a month tops.

We don't have one, but visit them a few times a month during the summer. I think the novelty would wear off. Now, if you live in an area with a homeowner's association and some common space, that might be a nice proposition for your association to explore.

No, we do not as our county has several very well-maintained spash pads nearby (the nearest one is a 2 min drive away). I have seen some cool sprinkler type systems made with pvc pipe with holes that kids can run through, or a hose attached to a 2 liter soda bottle with holes in the bottom, draped over a tree branch. There are also a lot of inexpensive hose attachment sprinklers that are fun for kids. It seems like a better option- pretty much the same thing for very little $.

Our city has been busy replacing all the old wading pools with splash pads because they are cheaper to operate since they don't have to hire lifeguards. The wading pools were much more fun than the splash pads. My kids would spend hours in the wading pool, but with the splash pad they would run around for 1/2 hour, get cold, and they would be done with it. It really isn't much different than running through the sprinkler. Nice to do on a hot day, but the fun doesn't last too long.
