I have / had a Leapster for my son. But I have found that the games get better. However, there are fewer games avail. as they get older. Well, at least that is the way it is where I live.
I was going to buy the V Smile for my son for his 3rd birthday but then I saw the Leapster TV game system. We've always been so pleased with anything from Leap Frog so we bought that instead. It came with one game Dora's pinata party or something. The graphics are horrible and I was very disappointed in it. I was wondering if anyone has this and if the games get better or not. I thought maybe it just wasn't up to par because it was the free one that came with the system. I don't know whether to bother trying another game or just take my loss in stride and buy the V Smile instead which I heard is wonderful. Any advice?

well i really don't know anything about the leapfrog one but my kids love the vsmile and the graphics are really good the games are fun for both my boys and you can set the difficulty level up when they start to learn the game..
We got the V Smile our son's Christmas (Santa) present last year. He had just turned five. While I am not disappointed...the quality is not what I had hoped for. I think for a three year old it is fine. My three year old enjoys. So does my five year old (don't get me wrong) but he has played a gamecube and I think we will get one for him and leave the V Smile to little brother. The games are great for younger kids on the V Smile. I would recommend it.
My kids have the V-tech system and it's much better. I don't know about the leapster. Good Luck!!!
We bought our daughter the V-Smile and were very very disapointed. The graphics are worse or comparable to when we'd play the 8-bit nintendo as children. I am glad that we didn't buy any games other than the one that came with it. I don't know if you or your husband own a game system, but I think when she's ready (she's only 19mos now) we'll just get her age appropriate games for our xbox 360.
Hi J., well i do not have experience with these toys. but i would say you should be able to take it back to the store and exchange it something you want. :>} t2US b
I know that the graphics arent that great on the V-smile, but my kids love it so much, they dont care. And the best thing is that they really learn a lot from these games and feel more like big kids because now they get to play video games too. I am sure since this a new product for Leap Frog, it will get better, as all technology does, but for now, I just enjoy it. Good Luck!
Hi J., We bought the V-smile game console two Christmases ago and didn't really like it but had a ton of games for it so for his bday this last year we got the handheld v-smile and we had to return the first one and the second was just about as bad. The games only sometimes work and now we can't use the ac adapter for the game console and have to use batteries all the time. I have no experience with the leapster but sure wish we wouldn't have gone with the V-smile.
Good luck!

We bought our kids the V-smile and they love it. Yes the PS2 and nintendo stuff have better graphics but the V-smile is for KIDS. I think they make it more cartoon for them. That last LeapFrog product we bought never got used so i went with the V-smile, especially since it can last until they are older. My 7 and 6 year old love the V-smile. Sell the Leapster on Craigslist and buy a V-Smile!
I don't know about the Leapster, but we have a v-smile. Our kids like it alot, but it sure sucks down the batteries. We've thought about buying an AC adapter for it, but $20 for an adapter we could probably find at radioshack just seems too much to pay.
