Do You or Does Your Spouse Get PMS?

Before I had my daughter I thought all of these women who suddenly became emotional or pouty, or J. downright sad were completely mad! (you think I would’ve learned from being 14 and thinking those same women with cramps were complete babies until at 15 I started getting the worst ones ever which would cause M. to pass out in high school) I thought they were exaggerating the symptoms of getting a normal period and that I would never act like that, and that they were simply using being a woman to excuse certain behaviors. Well I don't know if the second you birth a child a switch gets turned on and you become a hot mess once a month or if it's the lack of sleep that does it, but ever since I had Emmy I find myself having typical PMS symptoms. I CRY...seriously CRY while texting my girlfriends who are crying for no good reason at all as well,
(which on a separate yet related note who the heck created us to be able to sync up after spending too much time together and have these lovely symptoms at the same time? I try to think of why this would naturally happen...is it so men don't see other women acting normal and covet those ones since we’re all batty at once..or is it simply to get it over with faster? )
and I think NOOOOO I've become one of THEM! Those crazy women who seem like they belong in a loony bin once a month=) So does anyone else or does their spouse get PMS and get emotional and have mood swings?
For the guys (or you can ask your partner) if you dare to answer...how do you cope with it?
girls- how do you deal with it and what are your symptoms and have you always had them or did it start at a certain age?

What can I do next?

Never had it pre-child. Came on w/ a vengeance, post child. I never pay too much attention to dates and following my period, but when I start noticing that I'm flying off the handle more often, getting bad headaches, and generally grumpy, I know that my monthly PMS has arrived. I now also get cramps, which I had never had before baby. Anyway, as soon as I am aware of it, I J. have to tell myself mentally to calm down. What else can I do? :) Then I start taking Ibuprofen. Generally, my husband J. starts raising his eyebrows at M. and gives M. that knowing "take a chill pill" look.

I used to think the same thing! I had a coworker that was always complaining about PMS'ing and I thought she was using that as an excuse to act like a jerk. Well, two years later, after the birth of my second child, guess who has raging PMS?

I am one of the lucky ones who gets it twice a month. Once when I ovulate and again right before my period. My husband knows what time it is. When he seems M. rummaging in the "treasure box" (the breadbox that has snacks in it that he and I hide from the kids), blowing off exercise complaining about my friends, he knows. Sometimes I tell him too. His usually response is, "Humph. I'll watch TV downstairs because I'm gonna get yelled at today!" Or, when I'm complaining on and on he'll stand up and say, "Come, come, bring the baby," And he'll pat M. on the back and will tell M. it's okay. He makes M. laugh a lot so that's a huge help. Otherwise, he might end up shanked lolol.

I am not afraid to say I am 38...and I had 4 children (plus2 step children). I never ever got pms, cramps, or the like UNTIL....recently. I have noticed that around day 12 to day 18 I even scare myself. lol. i absolutely need to come with a warning those days. I started tracking my mood swings and Im trying to blame peri-menopause. I notied that the best week is right after my period ends....the worst is J. after that.
My PMS symptoms are catchy too. My DH gets J. as bitchy about 48 hours after I do, i assume from having to deal with M.. :)
I have 3 close girlfriends all between 35 and 43 and we all have the same issues. So I dont feel abnormal. I do however feel very badly about my mood swings those days.I try to get extra sleep those days and have put signs around my home for those days saying "dont sweat the small stuff..." they say that processed foods affect moods so I have tried to eliminate everything that comes premade in a package and I actually feel a little better.....but its a good week this week.:)

I seem to get bad PMS every other month. I think it has something to do with my right ovary? When it pops it hurts SO bad and I do generally have worse cramps on those months.

~My husband is a saint when it comes to my periods! He keeps track of my ovulation and when I am due to start in his head and alerts M. to when it's coming! Seriously! He buys M. chocolate and puts it in the cupboard so it is waiting for M. when I need it-Ha! The funny part is I have had my tubes tied so there is no real reason for him to keep track of my ovulation but he does...b/c he says there is a difference in the way I feel, more silky and more in the mood for sex, it's totally true too!

Psh, seriously, with two boys, 19 and 17, one girl, 15, a perimenopausal mom, and my 56 yo guy with man-o-pause, it's amazing the hormones haven't blown the roof right off the house!

Everyday is different, that's for damn sure!

I really should read the responses first....but I have got a funny story to tell. My hubby and I J. recently purchased our first home...and had our first big fight in that home. We have been married 11 years and I am 36 yrs old and we have one 7 yr old daughter. But I can only recently remember my husband complaining about M. having PMS. I don't know if it's the stress of buying a house or other stress related stuff. But J. the last few months he has told M. that we get along fine about 25 days a month, then I am a monster the other 5 days a month. Honestly, I don't see a difference in my demeanor towards my husband but he apparently does. In fact, in our fight he told M. I needed to go get medicine! The ranting man who was going to leave over something insignificant is telling M. to get medication? Anyway, it made M. look at my actions more and this month, I am happy to report I took out my PMS-ness on a co-worker (nasty supervisorly email even though I am not a supervisor) and left my husband alone. I felt a fight coming on one day and I simply did my best to avoid talking to him and all was well after a few hours. Now, I'm going to read everyone else's stories.

I'm a raging pms witch today as well! It seems to get worse every month and I now get it when I ovulate! I get MEAN, have terrible headaches that meds don't touch, a hard lump in my left boob (my sis gets this too), neckaches, and finally cramps, but those don't come until RIGHT before I start. I am 2 days late right now and begging my body to start so that my pms will ease up and I can feel like Bethany again. Lol.
