Do You Remember Your First Kiss? - Reston,VA

My 13 year old son sent me a text the other day letting me know that he was going to kiss his girlfriend! YIKES! Mommy moment!

Any way - he ended up kissing her on the cheek. But it led to us talking about my first kiss. I told him who it was - yes, after all these years, I still remember his name! And that he kissed me in the front yard of our home. He asked if my parents were watching..I said NOPE!

So it got me to wondering....do you remember your first kiss?

Do you think your child would tell you if he/she was going to kiss their "girl/boy friend"?

What can I do next?

My first "kiss" (not French) was with Keith in the front yard of my house...I was in middle school!

7th grade, 13 years old, at the skating rink. His name was Wayne, he was so cute and sweet (same age/class as me) but he tried to French kiss me! I think it was at the same time thrilling and horrifying for both of us LOL!
My oldest and youngest told me about their first kisses, but not until after the fact, and in the case of my oldest it was years later. My middle tells me nothing!

My VERY first kiss was in kindergarten... :) The boy's name was Martin and he kissed me on the cheek... Ahhh.... fond memories.

My first pseudo-grown-up kiss was when I was 16, I would imagine, since that's when I was allowed to start dating... I remember his name, too, but I wish I didn't... ughhh... NOT so fond memories...

:)

yes my first kiss was in 8th grade and i was 14 years old. i liked this boy so much and i wanted to kiss him but i didnt know how to french kiss and was so afraid i would be horrible at it. Well, i did it! And he said i kissed very softly! I was so excited! My daugther is 15 and she has had a boyfriend for the last year, she never talks about what she does with him although we have had the "birds and the bees" talk a million times and i finally asked her the other day if she has had her first kiss yet. She got really red in the face and said "maybe" so i knew that she did, but she didnt elaborate on it. :(

Yes, I remember mine. It was awful. Couldn't have been a worse kiss.

I'm surprised I ever gave it another shot because really, it was enough to turn a gal away from kissing for the rest of her life :-)

I was thirteen too. We were sitting on a log. He was a nice boy. So that's all good.

I hope my kids will tell me. I try to listen with an open ear now (we've only just walked through a first crush with my six year old) so that they'll know I'm open later.

Egad, well its nice your son told you this and feels he can and is open with you and you both have a rapport with each other. ;)
What did YOU tell him when he told you this?
What a Mommy moment.
Phew!

Yah, I was in middle school.
It was nothing memorable nor out of a Hallmark card. It was just 2 clueless middle schoolers trying something spur of the moment behind a building. No first timer really knows what they are doing. All clumsy and everything. Ya know?

Don't know what I would tell my son/daughter if they told me that.
Don't wanna go there now! LMAO!

Yes, it was Kindergarten, during recess time. His name was Josh and we hid amongst the cars in the parking lot. He mentioned it when he signed my senior year book. Haha! He's a great guy--I seem to have wonderful Guy-dar. He was my first crush, followed immediately by Joe Mauer (Catcher for the MN Twins - I was obsessed with him from 1st grade thru high school).

My first romantic kiss was my hs bf who kissed me in his 1978 Chevy Malibu, while dropping me off from a date. For a few months I thought I'd marry him, but then he proved to be far too redneck for me.

That's so awesome that your 13 year old *son* was willing to share that with you! That shows that the lines of communication are open between you which is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo x100,000 important!!! :D If he realizes that he can tell you things like that and still be trusted and respected then he'll feel more comfortable sharing even bigger things throughout his later teen years (which doesn't usually happen... ever... lol). I definitely remember every detail about my first kiss, and I was 14 at the time. I sure didn't tell either parent, to this day I don't think they've ever even asked or cared. I wish I would have been close enough to my parents that I could have felt comfortable sharing things with them. But the experience I had taught me how to be open and respectful with my own children so that they feel comfortable telling me *anything*. So far, so good. :) I would love for my kids to tell me about their first kiss when they reach kissing age.. Yknow.. like 30.. ;)

Yeah. The guy was OK. I still wish I hadn't, as he didn't mean much. I wish I would have just waited and just kissed my husband. (When he was my boyfriend.) The other dude was a total non-factor. No sentiment whatsoever.

**I don't count a silly, being stupid on the playground kiss. I'm talking about when I could actually date, and it was a real kiss.

Yes, I remember it distinctly & the boy's name. Funny how that is.

I doubt our kids will tell us when they have their first kiss.

I would say to consider yourself lucky that your son told you as he has no
qualms talking to you about this kind of thing! I think that's amazing AND
important. Good for you! ;)

Yes, I remember my first kiss and the name of the boy who gave it to me :)

He took me out to the garage to show me his dirt bike and gave me a quick peck on the lips before we went back to the house.

Oliver is only 2 and a half so I don't know if he would tell me... Or if I would even want to know! Lol

First, and most important, you must have an awesome relationship with your children. I hope my guys stay open and communicate with me even in the teen years. I love them and support them, and so that is something I want badly! Parenting advice? :)
As for your question: no idea about first "peck kisses", that was millions of years ago. First "french kiss" was a guy...name was either Issac or Israel (dunno, one of those 2 Biblical sounding "I" names). I was 12, he was 14. He was more experienced and I liked it when he kissed my neck, but when he french kissed me, I was like "EWWWW" his tongue was doing that dreaded woodpecker thing---hard tongue, in/out/in/out. (gag). I was a bit nervous, it was exciting, and we got teased by our younger brothers afterwards when we got busted. (All of us were in the room playing Nentendo, we thought we could sneak a kiss unnoticed while they played Jaws....it was an unsuccessful mission and I laugh when I hear Tiffany's version of "I think we're alone now" because it was playing at the time). Wow, I've dated myself now. :)

lol awesome question WW!

Yes. Summer camp, jr. high, walking back from swimming. He kissed me by surprise and then ran off. On the last day he left me a Snickers bar from the canteen sent via my camp counselor with a note that said "from Jordan" or whatever his name was. I've never seen him since. So I was just a one night stand. Wined and dined me and that was it, that jerk!

Official "first kiss"? Kindergarten, teacher stepped out of the room & he got out of his seat, came over & gave me a peck on the cheek.
First "real" kiss? School picnic, 5th grade, on The Scrambler.
I still remember both of their names.
My son? I guess I'll know fairly soon. My son is going to 5th this year! Lol
I didn't tell my mom though.

Yes, I remember exactly where it took place and with whom. I was 13, he was 15, we were behind a large boulder between our houses (rural) and I don't think it was his first kiss. Hadn't known about that whole tongue thing before that, tho.... :)~

My son is still young and hesitant to even ask other boys to play with him-- so no, no clue about how that's going to go down. If he's still like he is now, he'll talk about it for days and then want me to ask her for him, ha ha!

Sixth grade science camp. I kissed the boy I'd had a crush on for years during a night time nature walk. Akward and exciting all at once, just as a first kiss should be.

I think it's very sweet your boy texted you he wanted to kiss her. Good job in staying in touch with your teen!

I hope my kids tell me!

I do remember my first kiss! I was in the 5th grade, his name was Charlie, he had blonde hair & blue eyes (only blonde I have ever liked!), we kissed under a big tree in the school yard. He used to walk me home after school, he always had holes in his jeans & the first time I saw his house I realized he was really poor! It was shocking b/c I hadn't even thought about it before!

Yes, it was a boy named Wayne in 7th grade (and by first kiss, I mean French, not cheek). We were playing man hunt (hide and seek in the dark) and hid together. I remember how nervous I was that I would be horrible about it.

My kids are all young, but at this point they still tell me that kind of stuff (I kissed a girl, I like this boy, etc). I try to keep a very blasé reaction so that they continue to talk to me, But I don't have high hopes of that continuing on at 13. I wish, but think it's unlikely. I'm jealous that your son is still that comfortable telling you.
