C.K.
I was excited a while back when I got carded and realized it was only because I had written "SEE ID" on the back of my credit card :(
Don't all you whipper snappers answer this! :p I want the old folks like me.
All this talk of age got me thinking about being carded. I was carded at Costco no less a couple weeks ago. :) The people at Dierbergs (grocery store) stopped carding me because I kept hugging the checkers and it was starting to creep them out.
So when was the last time you were carded?
Oh most pathetic moment was a couple years ago when I was feeling down. I put my hair in pig tails, t shirt and jeans, and headed to the store to buy nothing but a six pack. Yup, I got carded. If you ever want to feel better try it, it works!
Oh I am 43 if you don't feel like checking out the age question. :)
Oh Bug don't get me started on that one. My older two are 20 and 22 years younger than me. My favorite was going to Casa, the restaurant was packed so my then 18 year old daughter and I sat at a side table at the bar. First comment from the waiter, are you sisters, no she is my daughter. She can't sit here if she is under 21 without a parent, she is my daughter. Then he carded me, yeah I had her when I was two! When he left my daughter said don't you dare tip him!!! I did but I thought it was funny.

I'll be 30 in 2 weeks, and I just got carded on Sunday, with my hubby & 3 kids in tow, and my mother with me.
I'm 26 and I just hand them my ID, so I guess sometime I should wait and see if they ask... but I assume they would anyway. I know I'm out of the age group you asked about, but the reason I wanted to answer was this story:
My mom was buying alcohol at age 50 and the girl asked for her ID. My dad stands there loudly proclaiming, "SHE'S 50 YEARS OLD" haha! There she is giving him the evil eye and the SHUT UP look!! It was pretty humorous! So, I hope that I age like her and that I am still getting carded at 50!
Hahahaha the idea of going to the grocery store in pigtails made me laugh!! I turned 39 last Friday and I'm hating it!! Funny though, I FEEL better than ever. Been running miles and miles, kids are finally in school all day and I'm only back to work part time. Life is good. But I went to the grocery store the other day and was carded and was all "oh yeah, I look awesome..." until I saw a sign that said something along the lines of "We card everyone who looks younger than 70." Balloon deflated.....
I'm at the other end. I love it when I have to show my DL to get the senior discount at Ross!
Yes, I am 44 and I always get carded. It perks up my day every time!
I'm 44. The last time I was carded was three years ago, buying a sixpack of beer at Walmart. I know they're supposed to card if you look under 40, but seriously, while I could have passed for under 40, there's no way I could have been mistaken for under 21. When the cashier took my license and scanned it, and it came up saying "41 years, 7 months" she did a double take and looked at me again. Needless to say, my look was not one of amusement. I am too old to find this funny. Just give me the booze.
I still do sometimes! I'm 41 and sometimes it's a "generic" card at a chain or place where they card everyone -even 80 year old grandmas. But the sweet ones are when it's just a mom and pop shop or some place they're not carding everyone -and they ask to see my ID -or at a bar or restaurant when ordering. The best ever was last year when I was buying a pack of smokes (I know I shouldn't have...) but I got carded for them! You only have to be 18! I did honestly step back and look at the cashier and say, "Seriously?" -but it felt really good! They do seem to be getting fewer and more far between though!
I don't but my wife did.
She promised me she'd keep her hair long and when she does she gets "carded". When she cuts her hair she doesn't.
When we went with my oldest son to register my for college, the clerk asked him for his information. He gave it to them. Then they asked him for his wife's information, indicating my wife. My son indignantly said, "She's NOT my wife." With out missing a beat, the student at the desk said, "Ok, what's your sister's name?" My son said, "She's not my sister. She's my mom." The student apologized to my wife and called her "Ma'am". I loved it. That has happened several times.
It never happens to me, but it happened to my wife lots of times. I have even introduced her as my oldest daughter, when some guy was asking about her. I love to see the embarrassed look on their face when they find out. LOLOLOL
Good luck to you and yours.
I was carded about 2 months ago - I am 46. I laughed and 'you're kidding, right' just popped out of my mouth involuntarily.
ONLY when I don't have my ID on me!!!
Never fails. It's like they've got xray vision. Thwibbt.
I'm 39. I haven't been carded recently because I've had the babies with me, but when I am not with them, I usually get asked for ID.
34, and sometimes i still do. love it :)
I'm 35, and I get carded all the time. It happens often enough that it's still a hassle, but I guess it could be worse. :)
Ah yes LOL. I am now 35 and I still get carded everytime I go to play in a casino - I don't drink alcohol but I do go gambling once in a while :) But it's funny because I was 33 last time I went to a casino and the age is only 18 to get in and I was walking with my mom to the slots and as soon as I saw the guards I knew they were going to card me and they did - walked out and asked me. Ticks me off because my husband is almost 4 years older and he NEVER gets carded! I worked as a substitute teacher when I was about 24 and there were actually kids who asked me if I was a new student! LOL
I am 39, my husband is 44, and we still get carded!
Im 30 and i do. I was carded for a movie the other day! When my almost 9 year old daughter( who looks 12) is with me i never get carded.
i'm 29 and I ussually do get carded, sometimes since I have a duplicate id, since I lost one, I have to show two proofs.
Usually. BUT I think it's out of habit, because a couple months ago at a restaurant I ordered some little frozen mixed drink that looked pretty (another table had one, it looked good), and she asked for my ID. It was in the car, and I said "Well....would my wedding ring and 2 kids do?" (they were with me) and she hesitated and I said "I understand, you can cancel the order because it was just a whim. Not important enough to go to my car". She brought me the drink anyway. And then Saturday I bought some beer so I could cook chili and the lady didn't ask for my ID at all. That made me just a little sad, kinda hurt my feelings, lol, even though I knew it was silly and not really a bad thing. But I took a shower and did something with myself when I got home, but didn't say anything to her. :P I generally embrace my age. I'll be 36 in 5 days.
I'm 37 and when my husband and I were in Atlantic City this past summer we changed for the evening and drove to a casino that was out of the way. Around 1am I was ahead on a blackjack table and was carded. In the confusion of changing earlier my license was left in hubby's pants (I'd been wearing a dress during the day). I was asked to leave the table and if my hubby wanted to take my place I'd have to watch from the tile floor....20' away! Grrr. I was NOT flattered. I was ticked. I'm 37.....really?? With all these twits walking around in their super short mini dresses and killer heels you're gonna card ME?? Usually I would find it flattering...but just not that particular night. :)
I live in Dallas,Texas and at most places they card anyone under 40. I get carded all of the time. However, I am 43 :)
I'm 29 and I get carded. People generally think I am my son's sister, or babysitter. It's pretty irritating. Ask me in ten years, and I might not be irritated ;)
J.!
You crack me up!!!
About 2 months ago I was carded when I went to the store and bought some beer for Bob...He was funny...he said we have to card anyone who doesn't look like they are over 30 - I was like, really?!?!?!?!? I'm 45!!! THANK YOU!!!! I almost kissed the kid!
I think he needs to have his eyes checked - but it still worked for me!! :)
I actually got carded last night when I went to buy two 12-packs of beer for my hubby's birthday party this weekend. He's turning 40 and I just turned 38. That's the first time I've been carded in a looong time. I'm pretty sure that there was no doubt that I was old enough. The checkout boy was just very friendly and talkative and I think he wanted to make me feel good.
This past summer I had bangs and they made me look younger. I got carded several times!
