Hey ladies, just a quick question...My problem is, which is probably an issue for a lot of people out there is, I am trying to find a Doc or chiropractor that can really help me with the things I struggle with. I am looking for someone who will do a complete physical on me and then actually have a converstation with me about my health needs instead of giving me a perscription and out the door I go. I have yet to find someone who can tell me why I work out and eat healthy but still not loosing the weight I want to. I am 48 years old and coming to find out there are few things that are coming up that cause me to need to take preventative action now. It is crazy how you have to be referred to a dietitician... only if you are diabetic can you just make your own appointment. I just recently went to a doc and I kept asking her to refer me to a nurtritionist/dietitcian and she basically gave me the run around and then I left teh office with no referral in hand. So my question to you ladies is, is there a doctor or chiropractor you go to that can help me. I am looking for someone who actually cares for his patiients and will take the time to really figure things out... I am not wanting to be on meds so that is why I am doing what I can with working out and eating corectly. Do you know of a thorough doc or chiro that I could go to?? Mainstreet Chiropractic in Plainfield is wonderful. My husband's asthma is MUCH better, he helped my back and our 6 mo old has even seen him once. WOnderul people. He will sit down and discuss your health with you and answer any questions but won't make false claims or try to get you to buy a gym membership or anything! They do personally have a more holistic outlook on health. They also have free seminars for those interested. My hubby found out about them bc we had our Bradley Birth courses there at the office and then found out about and went to their vaccination information seminar. They are all about educating people to live a healthier lifestyle. I HIGHLY recommend them.

I DO NOT recommend DR Heyer. His practices are off and he doesn't practice what he was educated as a physician to do-- detoxing foot cleanses are NOT chiropractic care, and neither are many of his other focuses.
Stay away from people who graduated from National College of Chiro in Lombard (NUHS, and try to stick with Palmer grads.
Also, stay away from people who talk about detoxing,weight loss, and nutrition, as this is NOT taught in their training as doctors, it is taught by management groups who promise to make you rich, or nutraceutical organizations who want them to sell their products-- much like drug reps are to the medical field.
Dr.Sinnot in Frankfort is the most philosophically honest physician I have met, and he will spend with you as much time as you need, and has endless resources. He speaks all over the world at conferences and the such, educating docs on how to 'do it right', and he is an upstanding man. He hasn't raised his fees EVER, and isn't in it to get rich at all. He does no marketing, and just loves to help people get well. He's very wise and caring, and he is the BEST chiro I have ever met-- and I have met hundreds upon hundreds of them.
