A good friend of mine sees a midwife at the birthing center in Grand Praire. They don't have insurance either. She's pg with her 5th baby so I guess they come highly recommended in her book. ;)
I have a friend who is pregnant right now, but she does not have any health benefits. Is there any suggestion on who is a good doctor that she could see? Also, she needs an inexpensive doctor that she can be able to afford because she does not qualify for medicad. She lives in the Grand Prairie area.
Thanks
T.

I would suggest that she contact her local office of Family Support, as there are in fact numnerous programs available for women who lack health insurance and are pregnant. I am certain she will qualify for Medicaid, as she is expecting. There is a specific program designed for expectant Mothers who lack health insurance, as the intent is to increase the availability of prenatal care regardless of income. They will typically cover she and the baby throughout delivery and for at least 6 weeks afterward.
Pregnant women with low income usually qualify for Medicaid. She can go to the DHS office and apply. Lots of OBGYNs take MEdicaid.
The teaching hospitals have clinics where people pay cash at a very discounted rate. Try Baylor downtown, Methodist, and Parkland. Good Luck
