Well, I think I might be the only one here who hates ATT. We were w/ comcast for a few years and then switched to ATT. There was a prblem with something at least once a month, and when we would call the employees were either rude or just couldn't fix the problem. After a year we had had enpugh and went back to comcast

Hi P.,

My husband decided to switch us from WideOpenWest to AT&T U-verse about a year and a half ago because they offered him a great deal on TV and internet. (I had to change my e-mail address with the world because that was where I had my e-mail account.) While installing our service, the tech mentioned that we were going to really love it because there wasn't anyone else on our "card."

We started having problems in January. The TV would freeze. And, when the TV froze so did the internet connection. Sometimes for just a few minutes and other times for hours. It froze during the last two minutes of a Red Wings Stanley Cup Finals game. Their customer service 800-line was refered to by a couple of their service techs as 1-800-I-know-nothing. We had a tech to check the indoor installation, another tech to check the line and then another tech that was supposed to start digging up lines on the next street over. Nothing happened to make the service work reliably. We canceled U-verse about a month ago and went back to WOW. I am, once again, changing my e-mail address with the world. But, this time to a gmail account.

Good luck with your choice!
D.

ATT U-verse is great! We have Never had a problem with our internet service (great speed) or our phone service-some with the T.V. We were one of the first to receive this service so kinks were still being worked out. But I can't say enough about the customer service! You will speak to someone who speaks understandable English and is very helpful every time. I left comcast because of the horrible customer service and continuously rising costs. I am happy with my move for ATT customer service alone. They will cheerfully and apologetically resolve any issues.

We got ATT U-Verse in May, we love it. There are plenty of kids channels, and I love the recording option, the best is everything is in one bill home phone internet and cable, our plan is about $129 a month. internet works better and faster too. plus they might be running a special where you get $300 cash back, or something like that. that is what hooked us plus we were tired of the dish every storrm or windy day the cable would go out, not anymore with ATT U-verse

P. - we switched from Dish which we liked but we had already switched our computer and phone to U-verse and wanted to bundle them. We didn't have a box with Dish and we do with U-verse. The installation took forever and the external wires were put through the door to our crawl space so that the door can no longer be closed. We were supposed to get a $100 rebate after 3 months that never materialized and when we called about it we were told we were too late (installed Dec 2008, so by 2009 it wasn't avail). The initial billing (first couple of months) is a mess but this is typical of AT&T. All in all - the U-verse service is fine (different from Dish but better than Comcast)and the price is unbeatable. AT&T provides a great service once you are done talking to them - anytime you have to deal with them it is a royal pain.

We had comcast for YEARS (when living in Detroit, it was the only company we had available). When we moved to Macomb County, we FINALLY had options. We switched to ATT U-Verse about three months ago and couldn't be happier. My hubby was adamant that he didn't want anything that required drilling holes in his new roof (which was the case with the old ATT thing). We actually get more channels than comcast and the internet service is better. Plus I love that you can pause and/or record live TV. This comes in handy when I'm making dinner and trying to catch the news at the same time.

They have all the same sports stuff (Big Ten Network, Fox Sports, etc) which was important for hubby, who's a sports fanatic, especially Red Wing Hockey and UofM Football. My son has all the cartoon channels he can possibly hope for, with the "on demand" option as well.

I can only say that the only downside is some of the shows we used to be able to watch (like FX Series) we can't go back and watch them any time we want like we could with comcast. However, all you have to do is DVR it and watch it when its convenient for you.

We were paying about $200 for comcast each month (phone, internet, cable and HBO package). ATT U-Verse is about $140 and this is their ALL THE TIME price, not a bundle package price that will change in a year (the way comcast does). I had several issues with comcast and was happy to be rid of them for good.

I feel like I should be a spokes person for ATT U-Verse because I'm so happy with them.

We love it! We were the first house in Royal Oak to switch and we are glad we did. No issues, professional techs, and never an issue with customer service. They have all the kids channels you like and than some and they also have a "free" section that includes a bunch of different movies.

Good luck!

We have Dish Network for our TV and ATT for our internet and phone and am so happy with both. The customer service is pretty good with ATT, my husband deals with the Dish customer service and hasn't said anything bad. We also have all those important channels you just mentioned, wouldn't subscribe to anything that didn't have those. Also important are the local stations. The internet offers I think 3 internet connection speeds. I pay for the same for my phone and internet with ATT and TV with Dish as my friend who has a bundle package with Comcast.
Good Luck with your decision K.

I switched about a year ago. The customer service is way better than comcast. They have a lot of good deals going on right now as well. I haven't had any service issues from the company. The internet is great, since your house becomes wireless without having to purchase a seperate router. The only bummer is that their free movie selection on demand is way less, and not as extensive as comcast's. Overall though, we have more channels, and the dvr is great as well.

we have att-uverse. We have had no problems and we enjoy it. The only thing I don't care for is when the power goes out you can call out and talk for up to 4 hrs. but no one can call in. The kids have more than enough channels more like 10 and all the ones you indicated are in those channels. My kids love it and I think its a better picture than comcast we was with comcast for so long like 10 years and they raised our rates and wouldn't give us a deal when I called to work something out so we switched to att. We have cells through them and never have had a problem.

We have never had any outages since switching to ATT Uverse, which we can not say with comcast. We had weekly outages with comast. ATT also has Qubo which you and your kids will probably really like, it is the ideal switch from Noggin to "bigger kid" TV but not really ready for some of the shows on Nick.

The internet service has been fine too. The customer service will exceed your expectations I am sure. The installer gave us his cell phone to call him if we had any technical problems. I know some of my neighbors had long installs because so many people were new to working for AT&T, however they worked out that kink by the time we switched they had brought in people from out of state to keep up with the demand. We were installed in less time than quoted, and the person who came out was very friendly.

We just made the switch this week after waiting for it to come to our area and we are thrilled. The speed for the Internet is actually better than with Comcast and so much more affordable.

My husband works in the industry and HE LOVES working with UVerse. He is seeing more and more houses make the switch and has been pleased each time he has had to work with the people from AT&T and Uverse.

Hi P.,
We have ATT U-Verse and Internet, switched from Comcast.
We have had minimal issues with it compared to Comcast.
We like the speed and consistencey of our wireless modem, and the channels are comparable to comcast (We went with U-200 + HBO).
Their customer service has been good.

My one suggestion is make sure you search around for special offers. We found an offer online for a rebate, but when we called to order, were told we could only get it if we signed up online.
Also, if there are any rebates involved, make sure to submit them immediately, as they expire quickly.

I hope the switch is as much of a releif to you as it was for us.

Hi P.,
We have U-verse for tv, phone and net. We love it. I personally love that everything can be controlled via internet. I can go to the website and log in and change things if I want. We have the lowest package but if theres something that I want to watch (my husband recorded a fight, yippee) I can go to the website and change my package for a day. That's so nice. So we don't pay anymore except for that day.

Our installation took about an hour but a lot of that time was taking down our tv that is attached to the wall. The cords are all behind the tv so it had to come down. Other than that it was really simple. The guy was also very nice and wore booties on his shoes so he didn't get dirt on our carpet. I thought that was really thoughtful.

STAY AWAY FROM ATT Uverse!!!! Wait until you have a problem with your DVR receiver!! Just spent over an hour with with an on-line support person who put me through the same progess a dozen times. An hour later then tell me I need a new DVR receiver. Then told me it is going to take 5-7 days for it to be **mailed**. I have to return the old DVR receiver via UPS in 4 days or I will be charged for the damaged receiver. They have NO service centers in Macomb County, MI where I can just exchange a unit. When we signed up, we were told if there were problems, a service tech would be out within 24 hours. Since there are no service centers in the high populated area of Macomb County, where are the service techs coming from? ***BEWARE*** ATT Uverse misrepresents its costs and service. This is even worse that Comcast, which was deplorable!

Hi P.,
My brother works for Com-quack (as he calls it)and I can understand you wanting to change.;0)

My Husband works for AT&T and we have had U-Verse since June 2007 (in the past we have had Dish Network, and Americast also known as Wide Open West). So far service and customer service has been fantastic (when I compare to what we have had and what my brothers' got). You can demo U-Verse at any AT&T Corp Store but don't order it there-we really want the referral :o). If you decide you would like to switch we would greatly appreciate it if you would use us as a referral, you can order online or by phone. To order U-Verse online go to http://www.att.com/uversereferral and use referral code DS3651. To order by phone:call is 1-877-827-5288 and use referral code DS3651. Let me known if you need any more info or have any questions ###-###-#### or ____@____.com

I have had ATT internet for about 8 years and no issues! I got U-verse about a year ago and we LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I would recommend it to anyone, price is great and the channels are wonderful (I have a 3yr old and it is perfect). I am addicted to my DVR and it is wonderful, customer service has always been great. We have never lost service - I have had direct TV, dish network, americast, and by far this is the best. Go for it, the installation did take about 4 hours but they were friendly, clean and gave some great info. The bundle packages are usually the best bet, good luck and you will love it!!

I agree with the other ladies U-Verse is a good service. We also switched from Comcast.I love the features from AT&T.They recently updated the DVR so you can record from every box.You get a better deal if you get the whole package,internet-phone-cable.When we got it hooked up the guy did a good job and double checked that everything was right. He even explained how to use different things.

We switched recently, and while the installation for UVerse was a joke (he was there 8hours, messed it up, and then someone else came out for 10 hours). Other than that- the service is great. We get an premium package for my husbands European soccer addiction... and get Sprout and about 800 other channels.

I switched from BrightHouse Cable and I think AT&T is way better. It has far more kids stations and better On Demand stuff. It has like 6 or 8 Nickalodean stations! The only thing that has taken some adjustment is that we used to have 2 DVR boxes so you had to record seperately on each box. Now, we only have one box, but you can view your recorded stuff from any tv. The problem is, you can't pause live tv from the 2nd box and we got used to being able to do that. It's really not that big of a deal, but we got spoiled. Other than that, it's way better service!

One other thing, if you are a late payer sometimes, AT&T charges something like $25 or $50 to turn it on if it has been shut off. I did that once (oops) but now have it automatically taken out of my account monthly so I don't miss it. BrightHouse was easy-if you forgot to pay, you could call them and make a payment over the phone and they'd turn it right back on with no extra fees.
