Thankyou so much for all your help! I read in Mary Bove's book about allergies and he is on an elimination diet and the supplements she recomended. I also took him to the chiropractor. His feet havent itched and his nose is clear after only 3 days of the new protocal!!! He indeed is allergic to something he is eating! THANKS!

What can I do next?

I see someone also suggested tea tree oil. Although I put a few drops into a handful of lotion and then spread it all over. My boys have eczema, and whenever they get a break out I use this one them and it goes away. Tea tree oil also slightly numbs the area so you don't feel the itch as much.

I think it is also allergies. Does he play anywhere around any new carpet? New carpet is what my husband reacted to.

I'm not sure either, but ask your naturopath if they are also a "classic homeopath".

Sometimes the laundry products we use can cause a rash or itchy skin. Also, the chemicals in certain cleaning products used in our homes can trigger allergies and asthma. You may want to look at the lotion you use on his skin as well. He may have a sensitivity to it. We use products in our home that are water based, and have no harsh chemicals in them. I would be happy to share information about these products with you and where you can find them. My husband had a rash and itchy ankles for quite a while, and my sister had a rash on her arm. Switching to these products helped eliminate both problems for them.

Hi K. -

If you suspect athlete's foot, I would suggest that you try Tea Tree Oil. After his bath at night, put a small amount of Tea Tree Oil in your hand and rub it on his feet, especially between his toes. Tea Tree Oil has anti-viral & anti-bacterial qualities. If this doesn't work, ask your son to describe to you what the itching "feels" like - i.e. pins & needles, burning, creepy crawlies...etc. This may help you figure out what the cause is instead of just treating the symptoms.

Katie, good choice on the alternative doc. I had athletes foot without much to see for the first year. Cutting sugar is always a great start...even watch natural sugar in fruit such as pineapple. I love starches and I needed to cut that also. I had to go on an elmaination diet for my newborn with severe eczema and while doing that, my athletes foot symtoms cleared up. They have returned when I started with my regular diet again. Athletes foot is a fungal type infection in the blood stream and sugars feed this.
Hope you find a solution,
S.

Excellent decision to go to a naturopath - I am an advocate for only natural solutions to health care. My suggestions for the symptoms you describe would be some herbal tea that is anti-oxidant, immune supportive and fights fungus and yeast. Other benefits include blood sugar balance, kidney clearing, better digestion, mental clarity and energy. It should be drank several times a day and the feet and hands can be soaked in it for extra relief. I would also recommend an herbal tonic that revitalizes and sustains all body systems including nervous, immune and lymphatic as well as digestive and an aloe vera based topical gel that will help with the itching. I only recommend products that are 100% natural, pesticide-free and grown in virgin rain forest soil - which mean they have had no chemical fertilizers either. They are also satisfaction guaranteed for a full year. If you want more information about this feel free to contact me.

I have the same problem with my 3 yr old. She will scratch her feet so hard that you can hear it from across the room. It's awful!! I've tried just about everything and nothing has worked so far. Her feet also peel from time to time. If she wears socks her feet sweat so bad that her socks will be wet when her shoes come off. And they stink worse than a teenage boys feet. I have no clue how to help her out & it's beyond frustrating. I hate to see her suffer like this.

My daughter also claims that she is itchy (not the feet yet). Sometimes I wonder if it's really true. If it's been going on for a long time then you are right to get it checked out. I always just but lotion whereever the offending itch is and see if that gets him to think it's better.

Hi K.,

I agree that it is most likely allergies. Check out www.naet.com for a way to naturally and non-invasively ELIMINATE allergies! It made a world of difference for my whole family. Instead of buying all the expensive creams and such, you can also make a paste out of 1 tbsp on baking soda and some water and rub that on it, it should help. Sometimes even drinking a small amount (less than 1/4 tsp) mixed in water will help with the itching. Good luck and please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like more information on naet.

The practioner that we went to was on the news the other night. See http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/myfox/pages/InsideFox/Detail?... for more information also.

Good luck!

My son has the same issue, especially if he goes out onto the Bermuda grass without shoes. He has allergies to grass and has a stuffy nose most of the year. We would have him wash his feet at the end of the day in an oatmeal bath and then put bag balm on his feet and then have him wear socks to bed. It seems to keep the red itching under control. I would definitely see about taking him to an allergist.

Restless leg? Or honestly it could just be related to growth spurting. My boys had all sorts of weird sensations in their arms and legs/feet when they were going through growth spurts.

My son (he's 3 1/2) say his feet itch sometimes when he gets out of the bath. He wants me to sit there and scratch them for several minutes each. My sister-in-law said whens he was little her feet used to itch too because of allergies, eczema, etc. She said to put lotion on them. I scratch his feet lightly then put lotion on with a pair of socks. I doubt it's athletes foot, ????. Get a new doctor. Best of luck.

Sounds like it's allergies! My son has all of those sympotoms and his are from allergies. I'd be taking you 3 year old to an allergist.
