Does Anyone Just LOVE Their Primary Care Doc?

I need referrals for a great PCP. I need one that will listen to my concerns and either 1) provide the tests I am asking for or 2) tell me why they do not agree that I need them! For a year now, I have been trying to find out why I feel so sluggish all of the time and why, despite significant lifestyle changes, I cannot lose weight. I have asked my PCP, on several occasions, to test my thyroid and sugars, but she will not oblige (I have family history and other symptoms to support my concerns as well). She told me I have Iron Deficiency Anemia and that seems to be her stopping point. I still have this feeling that something is just not right! Despite the fact that I have been significantly overweight almost my entire life, I have been extremely healthy and have never had any reason to believe something might be ‘wrong’…until now…and I cannot get my doctor to help me fully figure it out.

What can I do next?

I use Family Health Care Associates in South Arlington. My doc is Dr. de la Torre and he is great. He listens and does explain everything. I been using him for about a year.

I had the same problem with my doctor I could not get him to test my thyroid. When I finaly did he said it was at a dangerous level. I am still looking for a Doctor that will not blow off my complaints. I have been advised by some others that have the same problem to go to a endocrinoligist for thyroid issues.

I love my doctor as well. I've had some medical issues lately and she has sent me for testing with no hesitation. Her name is Dr. Daria Greer and she is in downtown Fort Worth at Harris Hospital.

I actually go to midwives as a PCP. Yes, they do that too! I just recently was recommended to have a complete blood work up based on my age. My follow up appointment she went over all the results - including my thyroid results! I had a number of additional questions and we went through them all, no rush and no blow off.

I use the UNT midwife group based at Harris Methodist Downtown. Kathleen Donaldson. Feel free to check them out.

My doctor is absolutely wonderful!! He actually sits there and discusses with me the possibilities of what I may have, and tells me the required tests. I tell him which ones I want or think I need, and he signs off on it (and if I request another test, he's absolutely for it just to make sure I'm okay. He knows I've had alot of problems in the past.)
His name is Jarvis Bull and his office is in Hurst, off Precint Line by the police station. Best one I've seen (and I've been with him for5-6 years...ever since the military)
