I did a google search for "Adhd diet" and got a whole lot of information when my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. It is a very strict diet, but it worked for us for a while. Once she started sports we took her off and started her on medication.

I am the mother of a 6yr old with ADHD there are a couple of things to avoid. One thing is anything with red dyes, caffine, and believe it or not hotdogs. There is something in them that makes them wound up. My best advice would be to talk to his Dr. if you believe that your child has it. my son has had it since he was 2. I hope this info helps you and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Good luck.

I recommend the book "The ADD Solution". Lots of very helpful advice, including how to get your child tested. ADD and ADHD are overdaignosed alot... it's not that common. The only way to definitative diagnosis it is with a brain scan that looks at the particular area of the brain. The book also has info on diet and exercise and structured routines and discipline that all seem to help.

My daughter was 4 when they told me she was ADHD. I refused meds for her. I gave her 8 ozs. of orange juice - one with very little sugar every morning. No cereal-try toast or boiled eggs(prepared night before if mornings are very busy for you. Something in warm milk calmed her down in the evenings. Always try this stuff at home before taking it to daycare to see how he reacts. It differ from kid to kid. Main thing is less sugar. Sugar free jello and pudding works great too for a snack. Once he gets use to the taste he will never know the different. My daughter is now 13 and on no diet and completely under control. WE are strict routin. I hope this helps you some. Take care.

Half of my kids are ADHD. They used to say a long time ago that sugar would make them more hyper, now the doc says it's an old wives tale and that the only way that sugar or other foods are going to affect it is if they have an allergic reaction to it. One thing to keep in mind though, caffeine is a drug...a drug has the opposite reaction of the mood that you're already in. It's classified as a stimulant...wich consequently is exactly what they give to ADHD children to settle them down...a stimulant. Ritalin (most commonly prescribed...is a stimulant, concerta...stimulant, methylphenidate...stimulant, metholyn..stimulant) and that would explaine why a nice dose of cappaccino would always chill my kids out.

I wanted to share a testimonial from a member of Melaleuca.

My daughter is 4 and my son is 3. Both are considered "too young" to be officially diagnosed with ADHD. However, I had previously read the article by the doctor about 2 months ago when my husband and I first began thinking that both of our children were showing most of the symptoms of ADHD. I immediately began the Vita Bears and Provex Plus for both of them. I spread the dose out so they take a vitamin with breakfast and another vitamin with the Provex at lunch. After 2 months, they are calm enough that they will sit still long enough to read a book with me, to eat dinner together as a family and it has helped my daughter in being calm enough at bedtime to go to sleep. This regimine has certainly helped us and I know will be beneficial to the kids when they are on the same learning level as other children when it is time to enter kindergarten. Hope that helps!

I would love to share more info about how you can get rid of the toxins in your home in order to help with ADHD. Also info on the children's vitamins Melaleuca has to offer!

My oldest son has ADHD our docter said too cut out all white sugers and all white flour its hard but it helps we use Splenda instead of suger we use whole wheat flour instead of bleached white flour. It really isn't too hard we only buy suger free candy for a treat but fruit and vegtables are alot better. Also you can cook with Splenda it measures the same as suger its more exspensive but it is an easy fix.Use whole wheat bread also.Stay away from red koolaid or any red dye products every1 said its a myth but if we give our kid red koolaide he can be off the walls its just like Mountain Dew!I hope this helps some. They have lots of stuff at grocery stores now that say suger free and the taste is the same . Just try things out to see what he can eat.

Hi there! I don't know of a specific diet but I'll tell you what works with my kids and they both have ADHD. I try not to let them have much sugary stuff, chocolate, red pop or kool aid. Sweets only add to the hyper activity. I do let them have it but only 1 time a week-maybe. Natural, whole grain foods are best anyway so we just try to stick with that. Just make sure to get into a routine with everything not just food and that will help too. Be consistent. It's the best advice I've ever gotten from doctors or friends and it does help. Best wishes.
