Does Model Magic Stain Clothing?

My almost 3 year old is starting nursery school next week. He's allergic to 8 foods including wheat, dairy, and peanuts. School is nut free and allergy-aware & has a full-time nurse (it's part of a Catholic elementary school).

The only hitch is teacher says she has always used Play-Doh, even with kids with wheat allergies, and never had a problem (package says: "Warning: Contains Wheat"). My son's wheat allergy (unlike his peanut allergy) appears to be mild but dr said he could still have an anaphylactic reaction to it. He still puts his hands in his mouth, and I'm not comfortable with him playing with play-doh.

I told her there was a wheat-free alternative to play-doh, i.e. Model Magic, but it's more expensive. She said she'll use it if I buy enough for the whole class. The Model Magic package says it stains clothing, but reviews on Amazon don't mention it. I don't want parents to complain that their kids' clothing is getting stained.

Anyone had experience with Model Magic and know if it stains?

What can I do next?

Not cool! You should not have to supply the class with the Model Magic to help your child. It should be used for the whole class, because there's always a chance of a mix-up otherwise. When I was in school, we all had to bring in a parent's old button up shirt to use as a smock. I remember it being very exciting to bring our smocks to art class. Maybe that would work in the preschool, then parents wouldn't have to worry about the Model Magic staining.

Umm... that''s ridiculous what the teacher said about having to provide for the whole class. She should be able to set your son's aside and give it to him specifically. What if your son needed to use an inhaler, would she only let him use it if one was provided for everybody? Is she incapable of keeping the children's backpacks and coats and artwork seperate? Seriously, I would throw a fit with her superior over buying for the whole class. What if you don't comply, will she not let him play with the playdoh while other children are?

We have a girl in our church who has celiac disease and for the sacrament, she takes her special little piece of bread in a ziplock bag, gives it to the boys, and when they pass the bread around, that is the piece she gets.

Besides, I've read it's hard to store and doesn't last for a long time. So are you going to have to resupply the entire classes model magic every time it dries out? Anyways, I've read that some colors stains and some don't but it really depends on the fabric.
