I have a problem, and that is my 14 month old daughter has only two teeth, therfore she her diet is very limited. She hates baby jar food so I cannot feed her that. I've tried cutting bits of food up for her, but she eats very little of it, if any. I need some suggestions on what I can feed her. I've tried the following foods: cut up hotdog, mac and cheese, cut up chicken nuggets, fruit. If anyone has any good ideas for me, I'd appreciate it

What can I do next?

I feed my 11 month old pretty much what we eat but some of the easier to deal with with no teeth are: frozen mixed veggies (corn, peas, carrots) - cooked, of course; soft cookies, oatmeal, polenta, spaghetti and meatballs cut up into tiny pieces, egg yolks hard boiled and smashed, cottage cheese with or without crushed pineapple on top, any casseroles that we have smashed up into a mash, mashed potatoes, lots of yougurt, grated cheddar cheese, blueberries (either small ones whole or larger ones halved), very ripe cantelope cut into small bits, etc, etc.

Just because they don't have teeth doesn't mean they can't chew fairly effectively. Your daughter should be able to handle all of the above with no problem with or without teeth. They use their gums to mash food with. Hope this helps!

My 13 month old only has two teeth as well but he does great with cut up cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, small pieces of hard cheeses like medium chedder, mozzarella cheese sticks, fruit filled cereal bars, teddy grahams, avacados, small pieces of grilled cheese sandwich, manderine oranges, cottage cheese, fig newtons, yobaby (baby yogurt) found right next to the adult yogurt in Safeway (he loves this yogurt!), I also will melt some grated cheese between a folded tortilla in the microwave and he loves that too.

Good Luck!

tofu, apple sauce, slices of cheese, goldfish crackers, cheerios, and bananas kept my boy alive when he only had two teeth.

My 10 month old has no teeth yet, but she is very effective with gumming small bite-sized things. I give her lots of pureed things still (fruits, veggies, even cooked chicken breast mixed with veggies pureed in the blender). Also, finger foods such as cheese melted on bread cut up into small bites, very small pieces of pasta (star shape, for example), cooked and mashed brown rice with soft cooked beans (black beans or lentils, for example), string cheese, tofu is another great one that can be added to pureed fruits and veggies. Hope this helps and good luck!

it's so hard worrying that they are getting enough nutrition when they don't get enough food in their mouths! I think as long as you are packing as much nutrition as possible into what you feed her, she'll be fine.

What I did with my daughter at that age was oatmeal with different fruits, etc. stirred in. Also sweet potatoes (though in moderation as too many can cause constipation in some kids). My daughter's absolute favorite was this- I would cut up chunks of the firm tofu (firm is a relative term in tofu!), coat them in a mixture of graham cracker crumbs and flax seeds (you could also do wheat germ), and then bake them. I would get her to dip them in yogurt and eat them that way. She loved them, and it was a very balanced, healthy snack/meal.

Good luck!
